Tough call here. Easy to say, but I would have called as you did. The chance to knock out someone who is short stacked and might be a little more reckless with an all-in call is worth it. I have, however, had some folks double up on me in the past in that situation and I regretted it. As well as he was playing, I probably would have taken a chance to knock him out.
That said, I had 99 and folded when both Viet and Edkid went all in, both with A-x. ( I believe) I woud have won without the trip 9's that flopped and knocked both of them out, but I had more of a survival instinct going at the time. There are too many times that I've been one place out of the money and called in that situation--and lost--when I could have just folded, allowed someone else to get knocked out, and come in through the back door.
I play at Party under the same name, but I haven't been there in months, and I'm really not sure why.
