Some people fight demons for their whole lives. Being bi-polar is a tough deal. You always have to get your meds right to function. Then they eventually stop working. Then you have to experiment with other meds and hope they work. It usually leads to some kind of addiction. At least that's the way it's been for a good friend of mine who I've seen go through it for the last 30 years. Then all of these outside influences come in at one time like going through a divorce, money problems, cancelled tv series, falling off the wagon. Like I said, some people out there fight demons their whole lives. Sometimes the demons win.

I always respected his talent as he was a true actor with the ability to convincingly play so many different types of roles. I will always feel his work in One Hour Photo was some of his best. Sadly the way he looked down & out reminded me so much of his character from that movie.

I really liked this guy.

Most people don't know he was a huge advocate for the troops making routine trips to the desert to entertain our servicemembers. Absolutely loved him in "Good Will Hunting."

sad, but...
weak.
the easy way out.
that's not the plan.

You simply have no idea about what he might have thought/felt, depression is not just a 'oh shit , I feel bad' , its an actual chemical imbalance in the brain and there are physiological reasons why your 'computer' might not be running its programs correctly.

Thinking that a person going through depression and committing suicide is the easy way out is like me telling someone with cardiovascular disease that his heart giving out is 'the easy way out'

Mrs. Doubtfire is what I will remember him for. Saw him driving down the block a weeks back in a drop top. I still can't believe I googled him this morning.

Robin Williams owned a block long movie studio in San Francisco that he used to shoot some of his movies. A friend of mine worked the summer as a prop man on one of his movies. The first day the crew was just waiting around for the shoot. And Robin Williams came up to them and personally offered them coffee every morning. My friend told me that he's never worked around a down to earth actor like that before that treated the people around him as equals.

What was he in rehab for? How recent was that?

I don't wanna say suicide is the easy way out and everyones pain is their own pain but I can't lie, it is tough for me to feel bad for someone who had >100mill and chose to opt out of living when he could've got the absolute best help/support possible

It astounds me that people continue to suggest we should legalize drugs.

Rest in Peace.

Don't have to know a thing about what he was going through.
We were not designed to kill ourselves.
Not going to get into a debate here either. Because there isn't one.

And the heart reference is terrible.
A failing physical organ that runs it's own can't be compared to a choice that was made.

I have always known Robin to be battling the bottle and cocaine addiction. I've always liked him and think he was very underrated in his dramatic roles. Anyone who has ever had a serious cocaine addiction can tell you that committing suicide isn't that hard to fathom. It just fucks up your whole chemical balance and serious depression isn't something to take lightly.
