Lines up before Las Vegas. What a joke that is. Who isn't up before them? The Stardust made a big deal about it when they had overnights, but they were low limit and no totals.

I think the thing about Oly is they are smart. As posters say their numbers are up early and while that might seem to be a big advantage for the bettor it really isn't. You have to be very far ahead of the game or catch one of the rare mistakes (not off, pure mistake) or else you aren't as good off as you think. There is a reason most strong and solid opinions don't hit the board until the last minute and its not the old-fashioned refrain "waiting for information and injuries" its that the best handicappers are patient and take their time. They don't make snap judgements and always give fair consideration to both sides of a wager before making a strong move. If you find you are with a book because their numbers are up fast, maybe consider slowing down a bit and realizing that having numerous outs and time to digest and put the game in perspective might improve your results. Just a suggestion.

If you are waiting on a game/fight, and a number comes out better than you thought there's nothing wrong with playing early lines. As long as you are fairly selective about it , that can be a very big advantage. early lines and a big selection are the main reason I only play at 1 book (I have used others in the past). IMO it's better to play a line early before late if you know what you are doing.

While i usually lurk and don't post, i had to register and reply to this one. As one interested in statistics i was curious of the holds and did some nascar calculations.

The greek has a hold of 150% on 30 drivers this week for an average hold of 1.6% per driver. Bet 365 has a hold of 182% on 32 drivers for a hold of 2.6% per driver. Of course these are excluding the field bets. Pinnacle has a hold of 128% on 28 drivers for 1% per driver but they always raise them closer to race time and the odds on the favorites there are actually lower than the greek. What Pinnacle tends to do is put up higher odds on the longshots and puts more drivers in the field bet. I once asked olympic if they would consider making a larger field bet but was told by Adam at the time that the greek's customers want the option on betting on a 100-1 shot rather than being forced to bet the field. Obviously the more drivers you list the higher the hold will be.

The greek is the line setter for everything. They are the first with lines for winston cup (always by Sunday evening), cart, irl, craftsman truck and bush. For f1 they tend to lag a little. Most places don't even offer odds on these races and when they do they just rip them off from the greek anyways.

Say what you want about olympic but to suggest they are not competitive with nascar futures is ridiculous. Hell I remember just a couple of years back the standard hold on Winston Cup was 175% for 30 drivers or 2.5% per driver. It's largely due to Spiro that we now get a decent hold on nascar at most books.

agree or disagree that is generally regarded as current truth.

personally I like betting horse racing MUS and often the value is gone about 15mins after they hit the board, even with all the fragility inherent in betting horses half days before off times.

40 cent scam on the total and a 3 way line scam on the fight, 99% of all plays you can find a better line at 5 dimes or Pinnacle, Joey makes them useless, Chris and Michael are clone artist that add vig. place is useless for the most part.

Eric - I understand where you're coming from but I look at it as I do grocery stores. If I want top-quality seafood in KC, I go to Hen House. If I want prime grade wet-aged beef, I go to Rancher's Gourmet Market. If I want cheap staples, I go to Sam's Club. If I want wine with a low price and a 10-15% case discount, I go to a large discount liquor store.

Point is, not every store meets all of anyone's needs. Olympic meets mine a decent number of times on basketball and football, and I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I short-changed my own wallet by refusing to play there because I didn't like their MLB lines. Quite honestly, it's irrelevant to me - I simply play bases elsewhere. If and when Olympic decides it's to their advantage to offer dime lines, that'll be great, but it really is no sweat off my brow if they never do. I don't like their lines on bases, I play elsewhere - I simply don't see a big issue here.

I understand Jazz and I respect your choice but I passively refuse to play there because of the baseball lines, I did not intend to ruffle any feathers.

They are a good book, I don't deny that, but I choose to play elsewhere until they get back to the 10 cent baseball lines!

I guess your more forgiving then I am!

How about we compare all of the other lines that pinnacle has compared to Joey. OH WAIT, WE CAN'T BECAUSE THEY DON'T ****ING HAVE ANY!! Who gives a shit if there line is a bit better, I'll take the bigger selection on real fights anyways. Pinnacle don't list stuff like last nights fights or FNF's. Hell they don't list some showtime and HBO fights. They might compete overall (in other sports) but they don't compete in the boxing area. If all these places didn't have Joey's opening number they wouldn't bother at all.

BTW- Thegreek has Jones-tarver up already also. Jones -750 and Tarver +550. Now watch everyone else have stunningly similiar lines when they open it. The over/under is 10 1/2.

They let him parlay anything he wants , thats why he's schilling for them .... Of course its a little different when YOu bet $25 a parlay versus $500-1000 , which Sodium Im sure is what you were trying to play .....
