Vanguard Canada has not had any active products until last yr (etfs), hence my previous assertion (don't navigate to the US site). And they are apparently going to add more.

quickly glancing at the active etf's available ,out of curiosity, and comparing to Isahres (Blackrock) there is little to no difference in fees. So if Mr Bogle is actually saying his active etfs are 'much lower' than the competition, well, that is categorically false.

(no Vanguard MF's are available in Canada)

everybody and their grandmother is joining the etf party...some working, some not............

Yeah, he said it when they added actively managed mutual funds.

Sorry didn't specify he meant MF's and not the new ETFs. Their MF expense ratios are usually in the .3% range rather than the 1-1.5% standard.

Horrible call

Another record high on Friday the 15th

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) secured a fourth straight record close, after the Fed officially raised interest rates by a quarter point and lifted its economic outlook for 2018.

no hurt feelings here, pulled money out, most of it has been invested in a local business that is off to a strong start. just relocated funds into a different market. glad the stock market has not crashed, but still think were far from good times as a whole. Far to many superpowers with issues with one another for something to not happen still. ive started contributing to my 401k sometime ago again, but a lot of my money still remains out of it

You believe investing in a local unproven business is safer than the stock market?

The above was posted on April 28th. I thought it would be interesting to see how things progressed a little over a month later.

Altria (MO) -- Closing Price April 28th: $71.78 Closing Price Today: $75.42 Gain of $3.64 or 5.07% Gain
CSX -- Closing Price April 28th: $50.84 Closing Price Today: $54.33 Gain of $3.49 or 6.86% Gain Also went ex-dividend May 26th which means you get even more $
MGM -- Closing Price April 28th: $30.71 Closing Price Today: $32.37 Gain of $1.66 or 5.40% Gain
WYNN -- Closing Price April 28th: $123.01 Closing Price Today: $133.59 Gain of $10.48 or 8.52% Gain
BYD -- Closing Price April 28th: $22.68 Closing Price Today: $25.67 Gain of $2.99 or 13.18% Gain
CACQ -- Closing Price April 28th: $17.45 Closing Price Today: $18.50 Gain of $1.05 or 6.01% Gain

DAL -- Closing Price April 28th: $45.44 Closing Price Today: $49.85 Gain of $4.41 or 9.71% Gain
AAL -- Closing Price April 28th: $42.62 Closing Price Today: $49.05 Gain of $6.43 or 15.08% Gain

One I said to stay clear of:

T -- Closing Price April 28th: $39.63 Closing Price Today: $38.82 LOSS of $.81 or 2.04% Loss

This will be about the fifth time I have posted stocks to buy over the course of the last few years and as you can see once again I have delivered for you. Did you make money? Or were you foolish to pull all of your $ out of the market?

It better be you made money because if you did what I said, you made a KILLING !!!! Smallest gain of 5.07% out of all listed, you certainly couldn't have gone wrong unless you didn't listen or pulled all of your $ out of the market......................

If you stuck with these since April 28th last year, you would have yourself a nice nest egg. Dividend reinvestment alone brought in a nice amount of profit.

Just as an FYI CACQ was turned into 1.6825 shares or something close to that amount into CZR stock. This trade alone is up over 50% since April 28th last year. Wynn is up to $165 from $123 a 33% lift not including dividends. DAL and AAL up at $60 u $15 and $18 each. The others are up as well and the one I said to stay clear of (T) down nearly $3 in what has been the bull of bull markets.

Tried and True still works, you just have to be patient.

Someone messaged me asking me what I thought would be a cheap stock they could get into that might have potential. Long long term and not something that will make you rich quick. There are hurdles and obstacles to overcome but if they can pull it off, the potential could be big. ERBB and yes you can buy a million shares for around $1,600. This is truly a spec and not a green light to go all in. Buy a million and sit on it. Forget about it.

Random thoughts:

A stock that has been hammered recently that has great value and was oversold - PLAY

Oil stocks may be in for a strong rally because they have learned how to downsize and cut expenses and will end up coming out smelling like a rose. - MRO

Almost forgot someone asked me what I thought about cryptocurrencies and what was a good one. -- Right now there is a mania to find the next bitcoin. There won't be a next bitcoin, there is only one bitcoin. Crypto animals and all this nonsense, people are being suckered in and will ultimately find these "fortunes" are worthless. Madoff strikes again and multiple times but under fake names or no names. If you must get involved, I am intrigued with Lite Coin. I know it's not sexy like Bitcoin but you can buy a lot more of it and can build a nice solid position in it. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon.

In closing come Tuesday the market could have a melt down, cryptocurrencies can crash to nothing and you still can't time anything, you can only hope to get in or out before the next big move happens and you don't know it until it happens. There is no get rich quick schemes. PT Barnum proved that over and over and would still be doing it today if alive. Don't be the sucker, be the one being sucked.

Good luck.
