You tube has a 3 minute video up prior to the take down. The guy was resisting arrest. Since he was a meth head it was probably all the drugs he had in his system. It seemed pretty calm interaction on both parties. The government wont release the video of what caused the takedown. Something went down that the powers dont want the public to see. Just seems too calm with the other officers to let the guy choke him to death. Kind of like a stand down order. Very strange.
I hope this is NOT the case. It would trigger the looting if it has stopped by the time it happens.. I don't know what the exact name of the charge may be, but he won't get any less than 20 years.. (Didn't the media say that he asked for a plea deal even before arrested?) I think he could get the full 40 years for 2nd degree, but suspect it may be less unfortunately. He has a "history" of knowing Floyd.

Floyd dropped to the ground on the sidewalk, handcuffed already, complained he could not breathe.. BEFORE Chauvin was there
Why was Chauvin brought to the scene, two officers were there, Floyd was handcuffed?
Chauvin's wife got paperwork done and filed for divorce two days after the incident
neighbors say they did not know Chauvin was a cop

I think the ending will be unorthodox (suicide?), but if it is straight up legitimate Chauvin will only get manslaughter, about 3 years. Don't know what's going to happen but I lean with your synopsis.
You have to convince 12 people beyond a reasonable doubt.
Just 1 and he's acquitted.
His attorneys will also hammer the point that Floyd was a lifelong criminal.
And although that might not be relevant by law it plays on the minds of the jury.
This isn't as cut and dry as many may think.
I heard that in nationally covered cases this big they know potential jurors are all aware of the situation, so they just question the prospective jurors as to whether or not they can still make an unbiased decision.
