Can't believe the Sixers tried to strongarm Hinkie into working with Colangelo's idiot son. I would've resigned too.

Yeah it didn't necessarily materialize but he is a smart dude. Some of the trades he made were comical ripoffs.

Major dysfunction down there. Total disaster

A lot of it is the NBA was sick of Hinkie finding all the loopholes in the system. Bringing tanking to that extreme, some of the contract negotiations and pissing off agents because the Sixers wouldn't spend any money (agents hate this because mid-tier FAs rely on the bad teams to overpay them since they can't get good players)

Did you see Hinkie's 13 page letter? He definitely has a mild case of aspergers but that is pretty common in those types of innovative types. It is a pretty good read.

He made a few mistakes, definitely didn't master the "soft skills" part of the job but he tookover an awful team that was going nowhere after Bynum's career ending injury and now they atleast have some assets.

If they got Towns or Wiggins then nobody would be questioning #TheProcess.

Main thing you can blame him for is going Okafor over Porzingis but Porzingis wanted to play in NY. Agent was giving Philly the run around. Some say that is because of the type of organization Philly had become, but mostly seems like smokescreen cause Porzingis team wanted him in NY. Tough to say really.

Ownership tried to let Hinkie do what he wanted but sports teams are tough places to reinvent the wheel, get way more scrutiny than most publicly traded companies. Eventually they just said screw it and conformed.

Doubt he ever gets to run a team again. Probably go on to make millions in consulting or hedge fund world.

the fans were actually patient....for Philly fans anyway. They just got sick of assets.....at some point it's gotta turn into something. I have no idea what Colangelo son is. Plenty of picks there if they can get it right.

I did read his letter. Odd to say the least.

Agents/media have a tightknit relationship, rely on one another. So once he started having problems with agents then the criticisms of how Philly ran things started popping up more and more.

Just because something doesn't work out doesn't mean it wasn't the correct move. Luck a huge variable in how teams get good, especially in the NBA where it all comes down to a 3-5 player core.

Like he says in the letter, sports is an intensely competitive zero-sum game. In a 30 team league, 2 or 3 teams at a time should always be tanking as long as it doesn't hurt their short-term business prospects too much.

I like the NBA's approach to someone exploiting its system. Instead of fixing the system, it had the #Sixers get rid of the exploiter.

Be funny if Embiid made it back and they get Simmons and he became a stud. Noel is solid, just more of an elite roleplayer rather than scorer. Okafor not crazy about, sucks on D and rebounding. Posting up not as valuable these days.

The mob killed Buggsy Siegel because the Flamingo was losing money. Then after he died, it turned around and they realized he was right all along about Vegas.

Might be like that.

I watch Embiid doing workouts pre game.....can't believe the talent.....I realize it's just pregame workouts but it's jaw dropping stuff. Okafur offensive game is special but you're right, he's not good on the other end of the floor. I would like the kid from Providence but we'll see what they decide.

Hinkie a Stanford MBA and then went to Bain after graduating. He wasn't gonna step aside and work under Colangelo so he left. Tough to say if Philly will go anywhere, but they definitely had the right strategy for 3 years. Probably overdid it in some aspects, like playing 28 guys a season but overall in a 30 team league you gotta find a way to differentiate strategically. Easier to take risks like that when you don't really need the job, can swing for the fences when nothing is really at stake for you. Why former players make terrible GMs usually.

Colangelo just a nepotism kid. Did a terrible job with the Raptors until Masai cleaned up all his mistakes. Hinkie probably laughed out loud when they told him they were going to work together.

UNDER 206 hou-dal / OKC +3 (prolly a sucker bet)

NBA UNDER 9 of 11 last night. That's 57-26 UNDER last 83

Thurs MLB = SF -120 / UNDER 8 -105 sf-la / NYY -105 / BOS +122 / TEX +107

No winning days yet in MLB as I'm -4.52 Units. Bad break in the Hoops as well last night. Split out, but took OKC +3 and later that evening they scratched half the lineup and it closed +8. And of course it fell in the Middle. There were no local Bookies around when the game moved and it's likely everyone that bet that game early or late lost. Hurts the Bottom Line for sure. Hoops now 354-330.

NBA OVERS were 5-3 last night / 31-60 last 91

6 is available at Pinnacle or for -115 at other Books on ATL. I'd hit that one now. On the other two games I'll wait until 8pm looking for +13 and +7 ..... No money being bet on Dogs as game time approaches lately.
