If you truly think Trump is the best candidate to get the results you think are needed then I'm not sure what the big deal would be that idiots support him though.

My comment wasn't intended to say Defying's point was incorrect. My intention was simply to say I think it's ridiculous to ask the question in the first place and expect valuable data.

All that said, if I wanted to make the point that this poll is useless in pushing Defying's agenda, I would point out that I think it's likely that anti-PC Trump voters are less likely to lie in that situation than Rubio or Cruz voters.

Let me ask you a simple question then, you don't think that Trump appeals to these kind of people? These kinds of people being those that believe that Whites are superior?

Oh, I definitely do. If you've read any of my posts on Trump, you'll see that I'm not a fan. I just think that type of exit polling is a waste of time. I don't think you're going to get an accurate representation of how people feel.

I guess I disagree on that in this instance.. this was in South Carolina where race is a major issue. People are more likely to take that extreme stance there than other parts of the country. not that it's more racist, I believe it's they are just more used to the conversation and thus more likely to say their opinion no matter how extreme outsiders may feel..

Also, It's just one part of the picture. So You and I agree on that basic point, and I'm not just searching for data that agrees. I'm just pulling data. We have an opinion that this is true, and these polls agree...

These are also very different polls that paint the same picture that you and me see.. Yougov was an online poll done before Iowa... The latest example was SC exit poll and they are basically saying the same thing...

However, Only 5% of Rubio backers felt the same way..
So it's not really supporting that theory
i didn't have a theory...i said it was a goofy way to phrase the question. so if the hypothesis is that more rubio backers (vs trump backgers) will answer a goofy question in the way defying is expecting it to be answered then you're onto something. :)

I'm surprised that this discussion thus far as been based on the merits of the statement rather than the original question...

If you are a Trump Supporter, are you bothered by the associations that come along with a 1/3rd of the base? Why or Why not?

Ya, I could be wrong. Based on my time in the South, I have to agree that they are much more open about race/racism than the North, Midwest or West.

I think PatsFan has your best answer.

I'd also mention that it's not surprising that people who feel that way would support a white male over two American Cubans and an African American.

that is like asking, If you like Lady Gaga, are you bothered by the associations that come along with 1/3rd of her fans?

you shouldn't support something because of who else supports it, imagine saying, "I would like lady gaga but all her fans are gay (or black, or retarded, or mexican or KKK)"

it's ok for people that believe in different things to have things in common.

the question should be:

Is a person that can have 1/3 of his supporters be racists and another 1/3 of his supporters be minorities someone that could win an nationwide election?

well said, but I think it's different when you're talking ideologys of a person. you're voting on a person based on politics, beliefs, character, leadership ect.. the difference is not as simple as what music you are listening too..

I get your point, it's a strong one.. I just know I'd at some point question my opinion if I was a trump supporter. Maybe it would change my mind, maybe it wouldn't...

not even close to true... a mile off..

Last Presidential election, Romney received 17% of the minority vote.. Minorities only made up 26% of the overall vote... So Romney recieved 17% of the 26% and you say that the most Bigoted (my bias) Presidential Candidate in recent history, that 1/3rd of his supports will be minorities????

it's no different than what any other politician has done throughout history to get elected.

hitler did it in germany
clinton and trump are doing it now

clinton is the expert... she can pander to both sides, one day she'll speak at a wall street event and pocket millions in support, the next day she's sitting in a blue collar diner telling the folks how she's gonna hold wall st accountable... that's why the kids support bernie they watch that damn youtube all day and know when someone is full of shit.

These parties at the Nash Equilibrium at this point. Looking back, the system was pretty much dying for someone like Trump and even Sanders to step in and shake things up.

Tough to predict if this cycle is an anomaly or the start of something new, but with the media/internet landscape being what it is, you can go outside the traditional institutional organization that candidates needed in the past.

Then again economic/safety anxieties feed political extremism, so the system might have legs.

Yup......the internet has sharpened the younger generation minds as far as what's going on in politics & who to vote for while TV turns people minds into mush. Especially the older generations, the lies you hear on TV that the older generations fall for.......on the internet, we all have a say, & can talk bout the BS being thrown out by all these politicians.......the younger generation is always online, & can filter thru all the BS.

I'm talking bout here in the US or in Europe, where the internet isn't controlled like it is in China.
