and just like that:

WASHINGTON - President Bush and several other Republican officials have begun shedding campaign donations from former House aide and lobbyist Neil Volz, the latest person to plead guilty in a widening lobbying scandal.

Volz, who pleaded guilty Monday to charges of conspiracy to corrupt his former boss, Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, has given $26,035 to Republican political campaigns and committees since 2002, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

Among the donations was $2,000 to Bush's 2004 re-election campaign. Republican National Committee spokesman Aaron McLear said Tuesday the remnants of the campaign organization would give the money to a charity....

One congressman who declined to give up the donations was Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, whose political action committee got $300 from Volz. "The contribution was legally donated and publicly disclosed," said Boehner spokesman Don Seymour. Boehner has similarly declined to give up more than $30,000 he got from Abramoff's Indian tribe clients, saying his own work on tribal issues justified the contributions.

That may be so. I am trying to consider myself more libertarian these days than righty though. I can't stand the bs that the repubs and dems are full of right now.

Limbaugh blamed "unchecked liberalism" for the inability to "save" New Orleans residents during Hurricane Katrina

Summary: Rush Limbaugh blamed "unchecked liberalism" for the failure to "save" New Orleans residents who perished -- or otherwise suffered -- during Hurricane Katrina. Limbaugh stated that New Orleans is "a microcosm -- a model of exactly what unchecked liberalism does. It creates destitution. It creates hopelessness. It creates a mess!"

Limbaugh is a drug-addled pompous gas bag. However, in this instance, he is 100% correct. You don't help people by giving them handouts.

yep, they're getting the shaft. Too bad none of them bought FLOOD insurance. damn legal contracts, its all a conspiracy. I wonder if Bush and the Illuminati drafted the policies and coerced people into not buying flood insurance using their "spear of destiny."

Remember this gem of a quote???

I'm reminded of this gem from Richard Perle:<TABLE class=post-message cellSpacing=10 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD width="1%"></TD><TD width="99%">"And a year from now, I'll be very surprised if there is not some grand square in Baghdad that is named after President Bush. There is no doubt that, with the exception of a very small number of people close to a vicious regime, the people of Iraq have been liberated and they understand that they've been liberated. And it is getting easier every day for Iraqis to express that sense of liberation"

That was from Sept. 2003 BTW.

=====================================================

Nir Rosen, former Baghdad bureau chief for the Asia Times and now a freelance writer, spent time with Shiite firebrand cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and individuals involved with the Sunni insurgency in central Iraq.

'All it`s going to take is an assassination attempt or another mosque bombing,' he said. 'I no longer think that there is any hope for national reconciliation.'

The conflict could grow to destabilize the entire region, Rosen said. 'The civil war in Iraq is going to spread in the region and the idea of the Iraqi nation state will cease to be a relevant concept,' he said.

The bombing of the al-Askariya , or Golden Mosque in Samara on Feb. 22 was a turning point, Rosen said. 'I think there`s no hope.'
