I definitely think it is angle shooting that he himself messed with the cards. Seems like someone of his stature would be above that.

Bottom line though it is on the casino to change the deck frequently and make sure the marked cards aren't in the rotation anymore.

He's a professional gambler, his JOB is to take advantage of edges.

Edge sorting is cheating

Cheating involves doing something illegal to gain an advantage.

Please explain how playing with the casino-provided cards, shuffler and dealer is cheating.

If I play poker with a guy who accidentally keeps flipping his pocket cards over on every hand and I can see what he has, is that considered cheating?

Ivey did absolutely nothing wrong. If he asked a dealer in blackjack to show their hole card before he decided to stand or hit, and the dealer did, would Ivey be cheating? He asked the Casino to do some things. They did. He didn't mark the cards. He exploited the edge they gave him.
If you wanted to play with a book, and in order to entice your business, they offered you a free point on every game, and you accepted their offer, are you cheating when you beat them badly because of what they offered you?

I think a more accurate comparison is

What if you knew about a fix in a sports games, you didnt orchestrate the fix, you just heard about it from a reliable source.

You bet the game, Are you cheating?

Any idea when this program will be replayed?

the casinos seem like they must be desperate for action from whales to bend so many of their normal rules. What did they think was going to happen? That's precisely why the casinos has these rules in play is to prevent potential manipulation by the player. If they are willing to amend their rules, then I don't see how they can later complain when Ivey beats them playing by the casinos "new" rules.

I obviously haven't seen the program yet. Did he get his money and the casinos are now trying to get it back? Or did they just refuse to pay him at all?

I look at it like this:

Lets say I walk into a casino and have the following conversation:

SEC - I'd like to bet a million dollars on Florida State. What's the line?

Casino - Ok. Great. Line is FSU -19.

SEC - That's a little too high. Never mind.

Casino - If you're really willing to bet a million, we'll give you FSU -14.

SEC - Ok. It's a bet.

* Then FSU wins by 17 and casino refuses to honor bet because they didn't cover the original spread of 19.

I've always thought about this situation. Wonder what people think.

I feel like weather or not it's cheating is almost irreverent. The casino granted his wishlist! They really have no one to blame but themselves. Are they that naive
to think a pro gambler was making these requests out of superstition?

I see they ruled it cheating across the pond. Let's see if the same results follow here. The Borgata payed him, so I don't think they'll be seeing that money again. Another mistake by them, if they thought there was foul play.
Also, did the casino across the pond return his initial wire transfer?
