I did it 10 years ago & am about to do it again.

Moab is a great place to visit, but um....moving there-I'll pass. Rocks and sand get old quickly-especially when it's 110+ over half the year.

So Cal is nice and all but I can't afford a place where it costs so much to live. Idaho is cheap, as is Costa Rica apparently. A place like New York City or So Cal wouldn't work.

PS, putting the degree on hold. I wanted something to do as a fallback plan but I'm pretty sure writing is all I want to do the rest of my life and I wouldn't be happy working a computer job so I might just call it good with a year left. Not sure just yet though. I'd rather be happy and make 35K a year than be miserable and make 70K a year. Writing is all that interests me and I make the same amount of money doing it without my degree as the average college graduate in this state would make so motivation is an issue right now.

S. Cal. can be affordable, if you live somewhere like Oceanside ( on the beach in Northern SD county), lots of Mexicans, but OK... or go inland 20 miles... like Escondido. Places like Santa Barbara are big bucks, the Mexicans manage to live in S. Calif, somehow. It can be done, on the lower end. It's not Hawaii.

Lived near Raleigh about 3 years ago. One of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and the sports scene is great. I loved it.

508 square feet though. My bedroom is that big. Too small for my liking.

If you want to be near the beach, and SD, 508 sf would do, yes it is small, but if it's where you want to be, it's OK, for awhile !

I'm just saying you can live there on the cheap.

I'd guess it rents for about $900 a month, which is really strong on a 110k property. It would be better to get a roommate, and a bigger place, but your own studio is nice to have.

My guess is racially that place would be about 35% white, 20% black,35% Mexican, 10% other.... and a high crime area... not quite Idaho.

Don't take this the wrong way Jake, but I think you need to get your head out of your ass and finish school.

You must have a huge bedroom, even for US/Australian-sized houses. It's more closer to the size of a studio or one-bedder.

I never considered myself one for doing this. However, I could actually see myself in another country in the next 5 years though.

I agree. You will never go back to school. Atleast I never did. Big mistake on my part.

Stay in the midwest or go to texas. Moove someplace where the taxes are low. May as well make the most money that you can.

Never lived outside of MN but I've been to Scottsdale, AZ a few times. Nice babes and weather, hoping to move there in a year or two.
