So how are ya likin it?

I'm definitely glad I made the move...I'm not sure I would choose Vegas for someone else doing the same thing though, unless there's a specific reason for coming here.

It's pretty damn hot, but I much prefer the 110/2% (deg./hum.) over the 95/85% I experienced in FL last week

Move to Europe. Now is the time, no responsibilities, no lifestyle to which you have become accustomed. If I had it to do over again, I would have done that in a second.

I sort of did it twice, once from NY to LA to go to law school and then left LA for Bay Area b/c I was burned out on LA. But that was far to late to drop everything and move to Europe just for the sake of it.

Let me warn you about one thing in Europe. If you're on this forum then you probably like sports. Your typical sporting event during the week in the states will begin at 12-1 in the morning and 6-7 at night on the weekends in Europe.

It really sucks staying up during the week to watch sports.

Yep, I've done it, without going there before, ready to do it it again !

I grew tired of CT while in High School, saved up for the move ( made great money while 14-18, like as much as a HS teacher). This was circa 1982 ( graduation year).

No internet, back then, so research was much harder. I thought Calif. was the place to be, originally targeted SF, but changed it to SD, further decided on Oceanside,Ca, as a goal.... wound up very close in Vista,Ca., and surrounding areas for 5 or so years, developed a pattern of often going to Vegas on weekends, so got to know Vegas a bit.

I had to leave Ca. ( fled some minor misdemeanor charges, gone now), went to Colorado for a few years, not knowing too much of it, but had been there before, have a brother there, stayed a few years.... then Vegas for a long stretch, left on my own terms, to care for an aging mother, back home !

Stuck back in Ct., for 13+ years now ( Mom died years ago). I'm ready to go somewhere else. No reason to stay here much longer !

Just watched the US OPEN from 2-8 in the morning while I was in Thailand..

That's why you get a nice video recorder and watch it when you wake up!!

Moving was much harder before the internet I guess too... now you really don't separate from your old ties, I speak to most of my old friends more now than I did when I lived in the same town/country.

Best move I ever made was when I was living in Vegas and moved to the Dominican Republic in 1987 to work in the offshore business...get there and I find Steak Tar Tar running the place..

What state are you from, Jake ?

What do yo want ? If it's beaches, then S. Cal., would be a good choice. I presume getting your degree takes the front seat. Where are you at with that ?

that is exactly what I am talking about when I say you have no commitments and haven't become accustomed to a lifestyle. Once you get a "real" job and are used to having money and doing shit, it becomes a lot harder to drop it all and live on nothing.

Thanks for the link to a site I can't understand. Probably would have to learn a little Spanish if this happens huh?

Dormitorio-room
Sala - livingroom
Garaje/cochera - garage
Jardin - garden
zona verde - yard
muebles - furniture
amueblado - furnished
If I have to tell you what apartamento or casa means im coming to Idaho to kick your ass.

You will probably be more interested in Ezcazu, Rhormoser, Santa Ana or Sabana. Since you are a young guy I would recommend San Pedro just because there are a few universities there and mucho poontang just waiting to be scooped up.

So Cal is nice and all but I can't afford a place where it costs so much to live. Idaho is cheap, as is Costa Rica apparently. A place like New York City or So Cal wouldn't work.

PS, putting the degree on hold. I wanted something to do as a fallback plan but I'm pretty sure writing is all I want to do the rest of my life and I wouldn't be happy working a computer job so I might just call it good with a year left. Not sure just yet though. I'd rather be happy and make 35K a year than be miserable and make 70K a year. Writing is all that interests me and I make the same amount of money doing it without my degree as the average college graduate in this state would make so motivation is an issue right now.

NES I am asking if you lived there and if so where... I spent 5 years in Utah hanging with all of the Utards.

Didnt actually live there but I would if a good opportunity presented itself. Moab has a great micro-brewery by the way, sure do miss that place.
