trying to compare california's forest climate to basically any other climate of forests around the US doesn't make sense
the west coast's climate is unique compared to typical coasts and islands in that while it is along water, it still maintains a desert type climate and even the areas bordering the coastline still maintain a relatively dry air. california is not known to be both hot and humid which is typical for most land surrounded by water, and is why it became so popular in the first place
the assumption that you can manage california's forests using the same guidelines as any other forest in the US simply doesn't make sense when the environmental biology is different.
