For what its worth...

N. Tex is 2-8 SU but 9-1 as dog of 28 or more since 1997.
N. Tex is 1-9 SU in last 10 vs. Big XII, but 7-3 ATS.

Their defense last year gave up 3.08 ypc and had 42 sacks while giving up 14.8 ppg. This unit returns all 4 starters in secondary, 5 of top 6 linebackers and 5 of top 8 DL.

If i'm not mistaken S. Fla. lost quite a few players fromn last years team. Also, I don't know how in the world S. Fla. can prepare for Bama. Shula has had practices closed, and he's never been a head coach, who know's what he will run. Spread would seem to favor S. Fla. but I smell a rat on this one. Bama has tons of talent and a lot to prove.

I'll take Bama.

sflorida has a really good defense. and they have many starters coming back on both sides of the ball. they played ou tough at owen field last year and the sooners didn't cover. i see this one as a real controled contest for alabama. eat the clock and get through this one. just hope they are not looking ahead. sflorida could sneak up. not a bad ball club. nice recruits. i like what they are doing in sflorida. bama and tradition. but its in turmoil. this isn't an automatic victory for bama as say ntexas is for ou. thats why i love the discussion. i have played sflorida and have to stick to my guns. gl to you this season jarbo!

I would like SF, except for one thing -- the main reason they were decent last year was QB-Marques Blackwell and he's gone.

Does anybody have pertinent info on new QB-Ron Banks? I know he was 11-18 last yr with 2 tds and no ints as a soph. He's big at 6-3, 230, and has a big arm, but is less mobile than Blackwell.

It's also a concern that the SF defense lost its entire DL, a star LB, and both starting CBs.

i believe in coaching systems more than i do players. everybody looses somebody year in and year out. many of these fellas shared time with the starters. that is like at oklahoma, i don't care who is qb white, rawls, ect. its the system. its the coaching staff's ability to evaluate and recruit players. just as i said last week about cal loosing boller. its the system and execution. look at what leach has done. made couch look like a freakin stud at kentucky. turned hyple into a heisman canidate at ou. turned kliff kingsbury into all big 12 qb. just an example. sflorida has just got better and better due to a consistent system. can't say that about bama. they have no system. the guys must be worn out at learning new system after new system. how can they gel when they are starting all over again. with little time? sflorida is proven its system. shula's ass is on the line this week and next. just my opinion. have to stick with this one. too much pointing to sflorida. i caught this one opening at 18 and its at 17 now. i know 18 is too much for an unproven system with unproven players and coaches with limited time. i love sflorida. guess we will see saturday. gl to all. thanks for the great discussion and positive opinions.

looks like we will have rain on saturday here in oklahoma. 90% chance. ownen field will be wet for the ntexas sooner contest. still like the hell out of ntexas. qb white has only had four starts in his career. with two surgerys on his knee he is less mobile. his last two starts vs. tulsa and arkansas he didn't scramble. don't see him running the ball in this one either. i see a basic performance coming from the sooners. i see no grey. should be a very nice play.

gob,

I see the OU/NT exactly the same, looking hard at fading Bama as well.

I'm hoping for OU to repeat last year's home opener. Do you ever look at 2nd halves? There might be a good one for this game. best of luck, I'm going to middle some back on USC and GA, I think there is a decent shot of those landing on 3. Have you looked at Baylor, I think they win SU.

I liked the way Garriss pulled the Baylor team together, forcing them to spend a lot of time away from any distractions. This is an emotional game for Baylor after the recent tragedy. I dont like some of Garriss' comments regarding "dont let the scoreboard be an indicator of progression as a team."

LB Garrett is cleared to play.

the gob posted sflorida on one i really like early, catch it now. its at 15x now fellas. and i promised. i posted on aug 24 early. now everybody is on sflorida. not to say it was me, but it was nice at 18. under 17 there is no value. don't play it. i may play it back for a small price if it keeps falling. there will be many more like this. when the gob throws a word like "promise it will fall" take it serious. gl to all.

I'm on the Bears with ya. Dont have any stats or anything to support me, just a gut feeling. They're expecting a nice crowd at Floyd Casey Stadium for the game. Baylor D needs to show up and slow down UAB so offense can get some rythym and confidence with new system. GL bro

baylor looks like a great money line bet longhorn. this should be a good win for a team that will take massive punishment this year.
