Not this late in the season Jman. 2005 was the Yankees roughest start and they had pulled to 28-20 through 48. In contrast the 98 team was a godly 37-11.

2005 team was also 39-39 though and finished with 95 wins and beat out the Sox.

I believe that was the year they both had 95 wins, and season series decided AL East winner.

Yes it was, the Yanks actually clinched the day before in game 161, and lost on the final day to Boston (but the game didn't matter)

I remember what Clemens used to look like, he doesnt even remotely look like he did at 35, much less 25. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt because anyone can have a bad start.

but 89 mph fastball and no command whatsoever of the split finger is what I saw. he used to throw 5 pitches and 95 mph on the fastball. once he got 2 strikes, fastball near the top of the zone or the fastball that looked like a fastball ( splitter) which dove from the top of the zone nearly into the dirt were the strikeout pitches.

he doesnt have either anymore from the looks of it. he should have retired.

This is a body of work, what have you done for me lately kind of thing:

<TABLE id=HB_Mail_Container height="100%" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0 UNSELECTABLE="on"><TBODY><TR height="100%" UNSELECTABLE="on" width="100%"><TD id=HB_Focus_Element vAlign=top width="100%" background="" height=250 UNSELECTABLE="off">Torre can't get praised when they won (you know, in the last millenium) with all that talent and then get upset six straight years and not take the blame when they LOSE with a lot of talent-ESPECIALLY the way they've been playing this entire season so far. Only Brett Favre gets praised while winning and sympathy about the lack of talent while losing!
Guys like Abreu and Giambi need a fire lit under their ass, and Torre at this stage of his life is not the guy to do it. Understand, I don't think ANYTHING will work, but I don't know why Torre wasn't cut loose after LAST season...

We're past Memorial Day and the Skanks are in last, sweeeeeeeet! Not to mention that they're now officially farther back than they've-or anybody else-has ever come from behind before, so, better focus on that wild card...

TB- Watcha talkin' about Willis?

I am a White Sox (devil ray supporter as well like FH) fan who likes to intelligently discuss baseball. I am not happy with my teams performance at all. I even stated that a division title followed by a Championship this year would be very special to those real BOSOX fans. I even think Okajima would be a fine ROY candidate as well. But will be nowhere whatsoever in any MVP or CY young talk. I also really like being me a lot, I have a nice little life.

You hopped in my thread with cracks about how many division titles have we won (not the topic) and other wisecracks too not on topic. You hop in the yankess thread and also throw some more digs. Unnecessary. No reason to hate. You are not making a point. You are starting trouble nad throwing digs. Big difference.

Very well TB.
I'll stick to the points. I have even been to Fenway and have never seen such intelligent and courtious fans anywhere (been to over a dozen parks). Trying to stay objective you would have had many many positive (my positive replies as well) replies to a thread with another title and not a 100% ridiculous one. The Yanks or DRAYS could really use a guy like hime with their middle relief problems.
