I have not seen roethlisberger getting blitzed on a consistent basis this season. Many teams have thrown some blitzes at him, but not as much as they should. Donnie henderson will throw the kitchen sink at ben this week. I dont think he will be able to do much. ben was only sacked 11 times in his first 8 games. he has been sacked 14 times in his last 3 games. I think the league is starting to catch up to him (despite his undefeated record). The jets defense is one of the fastest and most aggressive in the NFL. So it will not get much easier this week.

On the other hand the jets offense is good, but not great and the steelers defense should be able to stifle the jets offense, especially with pennington a little less than 100 percent.

I think 5.5 is too high. This game should be a FG type game.

The Jets have played the Texans, Ravens, Cards and Browns. They have allowed 37 points.
Well that's 4 powerful offensive juggernauts. :WTF:

You do realize that the majority of the points scored over the last 4 weeks were against the Eagles backups on defense? :suomi: The Jets are allowing 14.6 ppg and the Eagles are allowing 15.1 ppg. Not much of a difference.

Deb I'll get to you later...time to eat lunch. :103631605

The Jets have allowed 1 fewer TD than the Eagles. The Eagles allowed 2 TD's last week with backups in. Case dismissed. :suomi:

the jets gave up a last second TD to the dolphins in the 4th quarter of a 41-14 win. And gave up a TD to the chargers with 36 seconds left at that game. Who cares? to argue between 1 or 2 touchdowns is childish and proves nothing. both defenses have been dominant.

Agreed...but the Eagles are more dominant over a longer period of time with injuries all over the place. :suomi:

Jets are a one year wonder (but I like them better than the other New York football team anyday of the week). Plus their coach is a great man with a great history when he played in the NFL. They need an Eagle to guide them!

OK Deb here we go (this is going to be fun...I'll break up my replies so it doesn't all run together):

I don't know what you've been smoking but you really should market it, if you want to be successful at handicapping one of the first things you need to learn is that there is a BIG DIFFERENCE in being a handicapper and being a "Fan"...which of course is short for "Fanatic".

Obviously you are a "Fan" of the eagles and there is nothing wrong with that, however, being a "Fan" will end up costing you money over the long term as there is a tendency to make wagers with one's heart instead of with one's head.
I'm aware of that. I just try to warn people about throwing their money away (like last week against Green Bay). Do you realize since Week 6 of last year the Eagles are 19-4 ATS? OK 19-6 if you count the playoff games. Also over the last 4 years they are a combined 45-22-1 ATS!! They make it too easy for me. If you could hit over two-thirds of your wagers betting on your favorite team every week would you do it? ;)

Donovan as good as Brady?...Pleazzzzzzzzzz, give me a break!! Until McNabb shows that he can step up in big situations and win...he will ALWAYS take a back seat to Brady and the Pats who have proven themselves time and time again.
Not as good...I said Donovan was better than Brady (and he is). Last year 4th and 26? That was big. Ask the Raider fans about how "good" the Pats are in the playoffs and they will say something different. Don't you remember how Brady got to his first one? Hey I'm not dissing the guy at all he is a great QB and a champion but he doesn't have the entire skill set that McNabb has.

McNabb has had the opportunity each of the past THREE YEARS to prove himself and even had the homefield edge in the NFC Championship game but has failed time and time and time again.
OK that's just silly. Saying McNabb is the reason the Eagles lost is like saying Brady is the only Pat that deserves a Super Bowl ring. IF that's the case then tell Bruschi and Ty Law and the rest of the Pat D as well as the Pat WR's to give their rings back to the league. :nono5: Donovan was certainly not responsible for last year's loss (if you watched the game) and he certainly wasn't responsible for the St. Louis loss. The TB loss yes I do put part of the blame on him but everyone in the Eagles locker room is at fault for losing to inferior competition the last 3 years in the NFC Championship Game (Hache and Bucs will love that comment). ;)

Does failing to win in the Championship game and failing to advance to the Super Bowl make him a loser? Of course not, however...in the same senario Brady and the bunch have WON, thus how can you possibly say that McNabb is the better QB?
He's a better QB because he can do more on the playing field to help his team. Brady is good...no Brady is a GREAT QB but he cannot make the type of plays that Donovan can make.

Getting back to the talk of "Having a lack of weapons"....Brady backers can make the EXACT SAME arguement as the Patriots did not have a running game until this season with RB Corey Dillon....but yet WON their AFC Championship games and consequently have WON the Super Bowl 2 of the past 3 years.
Patriot WR's are much better at getting seperation than the Eagle wideouts and have been for some time. The 4 INT's McNabb threw were a result of balls bouncing off the Eagle WR's or the Eagle WR's running the wrong routes. Did you watch the game last year?

The eagles are playing in the weak and watered down NFC which makes their record very very phoney, if they played in the AFC this season they would probably be LUCKY to have 7 wins this season.

A simple look at the eagles record this season shows that they have only played three AFC teams, the eagles went 2-1 straight up and 0-3 ATS in those games, however, a closer look-see shows that they were very fortunate to have defeated a not-so-good Cleveland team in OT 34-31.

The eagles were also very fortunate to have defeated a middle of the road AFC team with regard to getting the win over the "Offenseless" Ravens in Philly by the final of 15-10.

What happened when the eagles faced a good AFC team? They got BURIED at Pittsburgh that's what happened!!

The Steelers out first downed philly 25 to 7, out yarded philly 420 to 113 and won the time of possession battle by a staggering 41:49 to 18:11, and don't blame it on turnovers as the eagles only had one turnover to Pittsburghs 2 turnovers in that contest.
I have already debunked this theory 10,000 times but I will do it again because you are a newbie. The Eagles are 5-2 against the AFC the last two years with one loss at Pittsburgh (how did New England do there again) and last year against the Pats (who won the Super Bowl). Saying they barely beat Cleveland is like me saying the Pats barely beat Arizona (an NFC power if I've ever seen one) 23-12 or the Colts beating Green Bay 45-31 while we were up 47-3 in the 2nd half against the Pack in our place. Those arguments are meaningless when teams like Miami, Buffalo (sorry Lander), Tennessee (who lost to CHICAGO), KC and Oakland reside in the AFC. It's a cyclical thing too. The AFC has a group of better teams right now than the NFC but only one can go to the Super Bowl. So they could have 21 teams better than the Eagles and it wouldn't bother me because we just have to take care of our own to get to Jacksonville while they will be wearing each other out in the AFC playoffs. Frankly I'm happy the NFC has a lot of .500 teams. We still have to win the games we play too. This team doesn't just go out and sneak by either they have beaten every NFC team on their schedule by double digits!

In closing, hopefully you will understand where I am coming from with regard to pointing out to you that there is NOTHING wrong with being a "Fan" of a team....however....you must be able to detach yourself and see things for what they are.
Deb I actually enjoy your fresh point of view on the topic ;) but I will have to agree to disagree with you. Have we struggled to get to the big game? Without a doubt. I will say right now no matter how good we look in the regular season our real season doesn't start until the kickoff of the NFC Championship Game (assuming we get there...as bad as everyone claims the NFC is that should be a walk in the park right? Thus my dilemma...I really think after 3 heartbreaks they know not to take anything for granted). Things have changed since Blitzburgh put us in our place. I think New England has taken the same approach as they have been pretty dominant since getting smoked by Pitt as well (Pitt was up 21-3 in both games...New England just made the end a little prettier).

Good luck to you this year and in the playoffs. If you do fade the birds in the big game (if they get there) don't say I didn't warn you. ;)

I'm a Pats fan...........thus I can........and I do. I'm even putting a small play on em this week, 11 pt's and all. I really like the over 44 Pats/Cincy. Pats will cover at leasy 31 of it.

As for the Jets game, Pittsburghs been just winning but their nice little ats run has come to a grinding halt. Like the Pats a few weeks ago at some point they're gonna lose and I believe the Jets have a good shot at knocking them off. I might even plunk a few bones on em.

Good Luck all~

Burress is OUT again (that suckass) for pitt so not really a deep thread for Big ben....im putting 50$ on the jets ML +220..even thought jets are 9-3 they seem more "balanced" then pitt...right now

Pittsburgh has had much tougher opposition, Jets schedule has been weak. They are a fraudulent 9-3. Pittsburgh will not suffer a letdown in a show me game. Pitt -5 which is out there now is a strong bet.....GL

lets stop fighting & figure this out..

I have been browsing this page & reading everybodys opinion and there all good! but, I need an answer to these questions..

If Pitt is gonna win this game than I ask,

1) WHY are they only -5.5 against a team that never beat them at PITT !
2) WHY are they only -5.5 against a team that is 11-0 and are playing at home!
3) WHY are they only -5.5 when jets best defender is out with a knee injury!

I am not sure if this is some kinda trap, but! it smells real fishy to me... I personally think that PITT is a tired team :smoker2:

I'm not going to list all of the reasons on why I'm playing this game but I love the Jets. Grabbed me some of that + 6 1/2.To play Pittsburgh because the Jets are 0-5 their last 5 trips to Pitt is not a good way to play this game.Thats irrelavent to me. Pitt has already peaked in my mind.

The Jets will win this game outright IMO. So

any points I get with them is just gravy. This should be a big play for most, unless of course your a Steeler fan. Also have a feeling there will be more scoring than most suspect so take the over also
