Houston Rockets -6
As I said before the series started, alot will be revealed based on the inside matchups between Oden/Pryzbilla and Yao Ming..Ming thus far, is 12/15 from the field, but coming off a game where he wasn't as involved as the team would like him to be, I expect the Rockets to feed it to him early and often, which should free some driving lanes, as well as give some space, for Houston's spot up shooters to get better looks from the outside, and knock down jumpers with a little more ease in the process..Defensively, Portland has plenty of weakness to be exploited, and I think the Rockets, make a few adjustments tonight to break the century mark, which should be enough for the cover..Rockets yesterday, committed themselves to a 2 hour practice and 90 minute film session, with an emphasis on stopping Roy this time around..It took, a near perfect performance from Roy, and a 42 point effort, to squeak out a win before heading to Houston..However, he has the Rocket's attention now, and I doubt he will get the same looks to the rim that he did in game 2, especially when considering how personal Artest takes it when a player scores the ball on him the way that Roy did in game 2...I expect both Battier, and Artest, to step up to the challenge of guarding Roy, and play much better against him this time around..Also, there is something to be said of Portland getting that performance from Roy and Aldridge, and only winning the game by 4 at home..This team needs to play near perfect just to compete against the Rockets, which is a difficult thing to do, for any team, let alone a young team like Portland on the road..Worth noting that Portland also, ended the regular season with a below .500 record on the road..Portland has also historically struggled in Houston, as they have gone 1-10 SU in their last 11 games in Houston..They are also very sub-par ATS when playing Houston with a 2-6 mark in their last 8 games against the Rockets...Rockets, on the other hand, very tough to beat at home, where they went on to win 33 games, and only lost 8 there during the regular season..They also closed off the season on a 5 game winning streak at home, and were a perfect 5-0 ATS in those games...With a veteran team like the Rockets, and a veteran coach like Adelman, you can trust this team will make the necessary adjustments to play better defensively, and, imo, that will be enough for them to roll against the Blazers, as they have had no problems putting up points against a vulnerable Portland defense thus far.. Too many things for Portland to overcome in this game, beginning with the crowd, but not limited to it..Their youth and inexperience, stand as obstacles as well, that coupled with their shaky play on the road, Yao Ming's inside presence, and mismatches on both sides of the ball, have me thinking that Houston rolls in this game by dd, in front of their homecrowd...GL as always
