Numberz 2008-09 NBA THREAD....

Houston has been playing well having won their last 4 straight, and 8 of their last 10..although Cleveland has played extremely well at home this year (13-0), this will probably be the best team that they have faced all year long...It will be a "statement game" for the Cavs and whether they rise to the challenge or get swallowed up by it remains to be seen..The Cavs have come a long way since last season and have already proved a great deal to the fans around the league..what they have not proven yet, however, is whether or not they are able to consistently manhandle the "good" teams in the league the same way they have manhandled the bad teams..Houston is on a back to back which should play into the favor of Cavs backers, but the Rockets coasted last night against the Nets and their star players averaged about 30 minutes a piece and should be rested for tonights game...7.5 points is too many, considering the matchup, and until Cavs prove they can consistently destroy the good teams around the league the same way they have the bad ones, I will take my chances when they play solid opponents, and oddsmakers give us such a high number to work with..Buying half point.

GL with ur action! The total in Cavs game scares me a little, as these are two of the better defensive teams in the league...however they are also two of the better scoring teams as well...so the question then becomes, what style prevails, defense or offense? The specific one-on-one matchups tonight lead me to believe that it will be a defensive battle, I cap totals differently than I do sides, and so I still have some more work to do before deciding whether or not 2 make a play on the total, but I am leaning under...What you do have workin in ur favor, is that when teams play back to back, as the rockets are, defense is the first thing to go, especially in the 2nd half and so u might have an edge in that department...I do not want to take u off the game so I'll wish u luck no matter what I decide to play :toast:

i think 47 wll be an easy mark for them to cap tonight as they have shown they can score on good teams

Cavs play very good defense, and more importantly they play physical..they are holding teams to 89 pts a game through 27 games! which, imo, is a large enough sample size to take the number, (PA), seriously...hope this helps.

Still waiting on injury report for Pacers to decide whether or not to make them a play...they have been playing well as of late, even considering the absence of key players! however, injury report will better assist me in capping the one-one-one matchups..

Can anyone provide this info from a reliable source?

vs the kings 55 first half
vs nuggets 56 first half
even when they lost to the clippers they put 48 points first half
warriors first half 61 points
and even the lost to the grizzlies 47 points

i dont know i think the number is low but i been wrong alot in basketball

Utah struggles on the road, and considering that this is their 5th straight road game in the last 8 days, makes me feel comfortable taking a well coached team in the Bucs at home, at what is virtually a pick....Bucs have been playing well as of late on both sides of the ball..They have held opponents to an average of 85 ppg in their last 4, and have scored an average of 102.5 ppg in their last 4...Feel like this is a good spot for the Bucs to get a win against an exhausted Jazz team that is anxious to head back 2 Utah..GL! :toast:

Nets, Kings, Nuggets, Clippers, Warriors, and Grizzlies not nearly as disciplined defensively as the Cavaliers, to say the least..these teams are actually on the other end of the spectrum..The difference between these teams on defense, is literally night and day...I hope I am wrong in thinking this game will stay under..I will be rooting for you Takin!
