McCain got his bounce and it's slowly but steadily receding. McCain's lead in the Gallup poll has gone from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 in the last four releases. Figure within 3-4 days most polls will be right back at a dead heat where it was before the conventions. Then probably nothing changes too much until the debates, unless there are major revelations, gaffes or events. Some of the luster has been peeled off of Palin, but ultimately her star will fade and we'll get back to the core of Obama v. McCain and a battle of who can change Washington and who has the better economic plan.

I haven't noticed McCain making direct appeals for the Latrino vote. That has surprised me. Nobody seems to be talking about it, or even talking about immigration. Still a minefield. But the Latinos would be really big out in the west battegrounds Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado. That trio can easily decide the election. It seems that Obama has receovered from the trouble he had in that group against Hillary.

I don't have a good read on VA. A lot of epopel have it in the same category as Ohio or an even better chance to steal. My sense is that it is not. I feel Ohio is a more likely steal.

Anyway, through all the polls and everything else, please do not forget to factor in the stuff that happens behind the scenes and on the ground. Organizations can win and lose elections, and their impact is often not well represented in the polls.

D2,

I love Obama at 47 on intrade as well.

I wonder tho, are we perhaps underestimating the overall hillbilliness or redneckness of american voters in general?

Just curious, did u have kerry or bush last time out?

I had Kerry, but I sold enough at a guaranteed profit either way on election day.

what about the first part of my question?

lol

I don't think so. The places where that is a big factor are not in play anyway. That's why I think McCain may rack up numbers in the south where it's safe but Obama can eke out wins where it counts. Maybe 2000 in reverse with McCain winning pop vote but Obama taking EV. That would feel very satisfying.

Looking very good at this point, I might even buy more at the -170 range...

McCain needed a 7 round KO last night and got a 12 round decision at best...

Obama looking good..Will be able to compete much better when they talk about the economy in the next debate. McCain simply has too much experience with foreign policy for Obama, he can rattle stuff off all day. However Obama held his own here and this bet is looking like it is probably going to cash. Hopefully many who posted in this thread will make $ on this with me.....

Been busy lately so I haven't had time to post but wanted to congratulate those who got this and won...

Great thread and I hope everyone in this thread so said they agreed with me ended up cashing in on it in a big way...Obama ended up just slaughtering him and winning every conceivable swing state, as well as states like NC that didn't even seem to be in play until the last minute....

ParanoidAndroid questioned pretty much everything I said the whole thread, that was fun, good call buddy.
