A lot of it is reflective of the players in the Game, back in the 70's, Blacks made up 25% of all MLB players, that number has dropped to about 8 or 9%.
How many Latin people were at the game?

When dsethi and I went to the Cubs-Nats game at Wrigley earlier this summer, the first thing I noticed was how there were seemingly zero black Cubs fans...guess it's cuz that was the good part of Chicago, and most african-americans live in the South Side where the ChiSox are located?

I wouldn't be surprised if, due to the White Sox recent success, african-americans are also weeded out of their fan base as well due to what I'm sure will be escalating ticket prices. Sad, but I could definitely see it happening.

You are missing my point, Baseball is not of interest to Blacks the same way it was back in the 70's, so less kids start playing the game so less blacks grow up to be in the MLB.

Baseball is one of those games that almost everyone who is a fan has played it growing up, I don't know many people who are fans but have never swung a bat.

I know loads of people who've never played Basketball that are huge fans.

Most black people that I know, are too smart to pay that kind of money to see a ballgame today. I stopped going years ago myself. I love baseball and basketball, but I have not been to Fenway park in about 7 years. I had been to about 200 games in my life prior to that.

I agree that there's a double standard there and it's unfair. Lots of issues on both sides, from reverse racism to affirmative action, etc. But that doesn't excuse anyone, black or white. Didn't see any generalizations made about whites in this thread, but those are equally stupid, I agree.

I've been to CoAmerica and there are no fewer there than anywhere else. The corporations buy them up, plus the popularity of the 10-game packages make few walk-up traffic sales. Same thing with Wrigley Field and Cell One Field (ChiSox).

WHat the hell. I just got back today from the Tigers game. I could count on 2 hands how many black people I saw. There was 40,000 plus at the stadium. Why is it this way. Most of the workers in the satuim were black. I've been to Piston games also and it's the same thing. I just don't understand with the stadium being in the middle of 800,000 black people why they don't attend a game.

No different at Braves games when I went. Good on you to notice and try and get the bottom of this injustice though.

Something as simple as "maybe they don't like it" just not the answer you're looking for I guess.

I've gone to ABA games in Vegas. Nice cheap tix with quality ball being played -- and shockingly there is plenty of black folks attending.

You are my new idol gyno. I have been saying this for years now. White males are the ONLY people who are held to the increasingly ridiculous PC standards in this country.

And while I'm ranting about PC standards between blacks and whites, does the term "african-american" bother anyone else? If your parents were born in America, and you were born in America, you're a fucking American. Period. I don't go around insisting that people call me "Russian-English-American." Not saying that black people insist on being called African-American, but social standards these days demand it.

I personally think black people would be offended by the term. If I were a person of color, I would be like "fuck you, I may be black but that does not make me a fucking African you biggot."
