I'll gladly take the points with the Huskies in Saturday's Final Four matchup. Connecticut beat Florida during the regular season 65-64 and will have the best player on the floor in Shabazz Napier, who is averaging 23.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2 steals in the Huskies four tournament games. It's not just Napier the Gators have to be worried about, DeAndre Daniels and Ryan Boatright combined are averaging 30.8 points and 9.8 rebounds. I think Connecticut is going to surprise a lot of people with how well they score the basketball against Florida. The biggest key to why I like the Huskies is the defense of Napier and Boatright, who I believe will make life miserable for SEC Player of the Year Scottie Wilbekin. In the regular season matchup, Wilbekin had 15 points, but was just 6 of 14 from the field with just two assists to three turnovers. Keep in mind that Wilbekin is the only player for Florida that's averaging more than 10.5 points/game. Connecticut is 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games away from home 15+ games into the season against teams who are outscoring their opponents by 8+ points/game. They are also a perfect 7-0 ATS in their last 7 contest 15+ games in against teams who are outrebounding their opponents by 4+ rebounds. We also see that the Huskies are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 when listed as an underdog or pick on a neutral setting and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games as an underdog overall. Florida on the other hand is just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 when they come in having covered the spread in 2 of their last 3.

MLB Friday Bonus Play from Doc’s Sports Take #963 Boston Red Sox (-120) over New York Yankees (Friday, 7:05pm EST) Two aces battle on Friday night as the Boston Red Sox go up against the New York Yankees. However, only one of these starters is still a true ace in every sense and that’s Jon Lester. The 30-year old southpaw has been a model of consistency during his career and he’s off to a great start in 2014. Despite taking two losses in his first two starts, Lester has posted a 2.51 ERA and 1.05 WHIP and looks to be in midseason form. On the other side is CC Sabathia, who still has the title of Yankees’ ace but he clearly doesn’t deserve it. Sabathia turned in the worst season of his career in 2013, with a robust 4.78 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. His velocity is way down and it hasn’t been pretty to start the season for Sabathia. He holds a 7.50 ERA and hasn’t made it past the sixth inning. The Yankee bullpen is a mess right now with the retirement of Mariano Rivera and David Robertson on the disabled list. With Sabathia’s struggles, the pen figures to get some decent work in this one and that could be trouble. The Red Sox also feature a better lineup than the Yanks with good balance from top to bottom. The Yankees bottom third is Triple-A quality and will definitely kill several rallies this season. Take the Red Sox as a small favorite.

Rebounding has been the only thing going well for them, and this will be a problem here with Gortat down low. Washington is playoff hungry and is fighting tooth and claw to scratch their way in and make the city proud. They can certainly knock it down from deep all night long, with Bradley Beal hitting 40% of his deep balls, and this will open things up for the inside play of Marcin Gortat, who has been excellent, as well. Look for Wall and Arieza to come up big here. The big key for Washington who has great versatility and leads the second unit when they get the team moving, is Martell Webster, and I expect him to be lighting it up and get the team motivated when needed.
