Sharks, I can tell you are intelligent, let me respond.

My Hilton contest pick was worth $1,500 week1. By late midseason, I was in around 100th place of 340 or so. My entry was worth about $300 at that point. During weeks 10-15 I had a choice.

1) Put in my picks right before the deadline Friday am. Diligently track line moves, qb changes, and play my strongest plays at that point in time. This strategy likely would have made the PV of my entry worth $400.

2) Chuck in my best 5 plays on Thursday night, and play a little game theory trying to predict a game all the leaders would be on, and go opposite them, provided I liked that side. And put in my best picks, with this incorporated, and pop them in Thursday Night at -105 time. My entry likely was worth $300 with this strategy.

What idiot betting up to 10k a game would seriously give up tons of +EV bets on a Friday, by saying "I have to have personal integrity and focus on my Hilton win percentage". So instead of doing about a dozen things (like grabbing Jets +3, +115!) at a squaresville book, instead I'm going to have to rush over to the Hilton Friday am, just to spend an extra hour there on my Contest picks, to raise my equity by $20 or so by playing better that week? Sheeesh. GROSS FINANCIAL INCOMPETENCE.

I'm in a hoops fantasy league. I paid $300 to get in. I was in 2nd place. I'm sure I've faded. I haven't had time to even look at my team for 5 weeks. Now you could criticize me for being lazy, but from a financial perspective it's a huge money loser for me during football season. I may as well put on an apron and go work at McDonalds. Instead of losing my $300 I could put in 50 hours and likely get $400 back. Yikes! That's NOT going to get it done.

Now you could argue I killed 20 minutes on this post. But, hey, I actually enjoy the public forums, so I may as well be reading a book, not working. And I do so much betting/capping etc. that putting in contest picks/managing a fantasy team sure just feels like work. Everyone told me how much a fantasy team would be. I've found out that there is a reason I don't handicap hoops before February. TOO DAMN BUSY printing money during football season.

One more response to Sharks:

Professional handicappers look to maximize clients.

Professional bettors look to maxmize profits.

........... A huge difference.
