Carson Wentz: 4,189 yards, 22 TDs, 13 INTs, 176 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 253.2 fantasy points
The Eagles ranked fifth in pass plays in 2016, throwing the football almost 60 percent of the time. That wasn't a surprise, however, as offensive coordinator Frank Reich is a noted fan of the pass attack. In fact, Rivers threw the football 1,231 times and averaged an impressive 4,539 passing yards under Reich while the two were in San Diego. ... Carson Wentz finished his rookie season 24th in fantasy points among quarterbacks, but he threw the ball 607 times (fifth-most in the NFL). With a full pro season under his belt and the additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith, the North Dakota State product figures to be one of the more popular quarterback sleepers in fantasy drafts.

Projections
Ben Roethlisberger: 4,498 yards, 28 TDs, 14 INTs, 36 rush yards, 1 rush TDs, 267.5 fantasy points
The Steelers offense finished 13th in pass plays last season, throwing the football more than 60 percent of the time. Roethlisberger missed two games due to injuries, but he averaged 18 fantasy points per game overall. However, he averaged a pedestrian 13 fantasy points a game on the road (10.4 in outdoor roadies) compared to a robust 24.6 points at Heinz Field. That huge discrepancy in point production will hurt his value in fantasy drafts, though getting Martavis Bryant back is a real positive. ... Todd Haley has produced five top-12 fantasy quarterbacks in his last 11 seasons as a coordinator or coach, including Roethlisberger (2010, 2013, 2014) and Warner (2007, 2008).

Projections
Brian Hoyer: 3,402 yards, 17 TDs, 13 INTs, 89 rush yards, 1 rush TDs, 185.0 fantasy points
The 49ers ranked 28th in pass plays last season, but there's a good chance for an increase in that total under new head coach Kyle Shanahan . The Falcons threw the football on nearly 60 percent of their offensive plays while Shanahan was their coordinator in 2015-2016. ... In his nine seasons as an NFL coordinator, Shanahan has fielded three top-five fantasy quarterbacks including Matt Schaub (2009), Robert Griffin III (2012) and Matt Ryan (2016). ... Brian Hoyer isn't likely to make this a quartet, but the underrated veteran could turn into a viable matchup-based starter and DFS option in an offense that has clearly helped quarterbacks find a good level of success in the past.

Russell Wilson: 4,140 yards, 27 TDs, 12 INTs, 367 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 295.2 fantasy points
The Seahawks ranked 19th in pass plays last season, as Russell Wilson set career bests in pass attempts (546) and completions (353) in an offense that didn't run as much without Marshawn Lynch. However, the veteran also saw his touchdown per completion percentage drop from 10 percent (2015) down to around six (2016). Wilson also saw his lowest rush attempt (72) and rushing yardage (259) totals in his four seasons under offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. He did deal with injuries though, and his offensive line was among the worst in the league. While the line is still rated poorly in a recent article from Pro Football Focus, I see a top-10 fantasy campaign ahead for Wilson.

Jameis Winston: 4,189 yards, 28 TDs, 16 INTs, 196 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 269.5 fantasy points
The Buccaneers ranked 16th in pass attempts last season, and that total could increase after the team added DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard to the pass attack. ... In his last nine seasons as either a head coach or a coordinator, Dirk Koetter has had one quarterback finish worse than 15th in fantasy points. That quarterback was Jameis Winston (2016), but the position is far more productive now than it was back in the 2000s. Koetter has also had two quarterbacks (David Garrard - 2008, Ryan - 2012, 2014) finish in the top 10 in points at the position. ... Winston, who threw 28 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign, is considered one of the better fantasy sleepers at the position.

Projections
Marcus Mariota: 4,213 yards, 29 TDs, 13 INTs, 316 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 294.1 fantasy points
In their first season under offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie, the Titans ranked 29th in pass plays while throwing the ball 52.8 percent of the time. That's due in large part to the immense success of DeMarco Murray and the ground attack, which ranked among the NFL's best almost across the board. ... Marcus Mariota still found success in fantasy land, however, finishing 13th in fantasy points despite missing one game. During an eight-game stretch, he scored 19-plus fantasy points seven times and threw for 21 touchdowns against just three interceptions. A breakout candidate among quarterbacks, Mariota (leg) is slated to be a full go in camp. Be sure to keep tabs on his status.

Projections
Kirk Cousins: 4,786 yards, 25 TDs, 12 INTs, 56 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 279.0 fantasy points
The Redskins ranked ninth in pass plays a season ago, and Kirk Cousins was sixth in pass attempts and third in passing yards per game (307.3). He also finished fifth in points among quarterbacks behind his career-best 4,217 passing yards and 29 total touchdowns. ... This was the fifth time in Jay Gruden's six seasons as either an NFL head coach or coordinator that his quarterback finished 15th or better based on fantasy points. In three of those seasons, his signal-caller ranked eighth or better including two top-five finishes (Dalton - 2013, Cousins - 2016). That trend should make Cousins, who is coming off the board in Round 9 based on NFL.com ADP, an attractive draft value.

Sources: Steelers thought they'd reach long-term deal with Le'Veon Bell by deadline.

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers believed they were close to securing a long-term contract with Le'Veon Bell as July's franchise-tag deadline ran down, but the star running back declined the team's offer, sources told ESPN.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday that Bell nixed an offer "at the last minute," even though team officials thought they had come to terms with his agent on a contract paying more than $12 million annually over five years.
The Post-Gazette had earlier tweeted, "Exclusive: The Steelers and Le'Veon Bell's agent had agreed on a five-year deal. Then, Bell turned it down."
Bell's agent, Adisa Bakari, said he and his client never had any agreement with Steelers. "All stories to contrary are false," Bakari told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The two sides were trying to hash out a long-term deal before the July 17 deadline expired for players with franchise tags to sign extensions. Instead, Bell skipped training camp and hasn't signed his $12.1 million franchise tender.
Bell told ESPN after the deadline expired that "I feel I'm worth more than what they are offering me," but that he would play a full season in 2017. Bell could report to the team as early as next week, though the team has maintained it isn't sure exactly when he will return.
After averaging nearly 130 yards from scrimmage per game over his first four seasons, Bell could become the league's highest-paid running back over the course of a long-term contract. That honor belongs to Atlanta Falcons back Devonta Freeman at $8.25 million per year.
Bell also considers himself an elite receiver, with at least 75 receptions in two of the past three seasons. The way Bell sees it, his hybrid abilities warrant a bigger market.
Bell rapped on one of his mixtapes in 2016, "I'm at the top and if not I'm the closest. I'ma need 15 a year and they know this." Perhaps that wordplay is proving true.

What we learned from Seahawks' win over Vikings.

The absence of Thomas Rawls, due to a minor ankle sprain suffered in camp, presented new acquisition Eddie Lacy with a golden opportunity to prove to coaches he could split snaps with the starting incumbent.
Instead, it was rookie back Chris Carson who earned more time with the starters on Friday night. Carson alternated first-team snaps with Lacy on Seattle's opening three drives and showed better speed and hole-hitting ability on his six carries for 27 yards. The rookie also was effective out of the backfield, taking one Russell Wilson pass for 17 yards.
Carson also showed up on film when the ball wasn't in his hands. His pickup of Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffin sprung a first-quarter deep ball, and as a special teamer, he forced a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half.
Lacy, meanwhile, struggled to pick up gains in short-yardage situations, tallying just two yards on three down-and-one situations, a problem that carried over from Seattle's preseason opener. The former Packers star ran for 20 yards on six carries, barreling through tacklers for nine yards on his opening rush, but otherwise making little impact on the ground.
Pete Carroll's backfield is the most crowded it has been since Beast Mode's exodus, with Rawls, Lacy, Carson, C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis and Alex Collins all worthy of targets and capable of catching out of the backfield. So just because Seattle brought in the former Pro Bowler Lacy this offseason, paid him a starter's salary and made him publicly monitor his fluctuating weight in front of a sneering internet doesn't mean he is guaranteed starting snaps in the regular season.
In other words, the RB depth chart in SEA is TBD.

1. Dalvin Cook is one slippery beast. The Vikings rookie tailback impressed once again with the first-teamers, bursting into the second level on nearly every one of his seven gallops Friday evening. Minnesota trusts Cook to carry the load, as the Vikings opened their second drive of the game with four straight handoffs to their first-year runner, who gained 40 yards on the night. The rookie was subbed out after just two drives, but had done more than enough to secure his status in this offense. If Latavius Murray wants starting carries in Minnesota, he better rehab as quickly as possible. If not, he'll get Wally Pipped before even taking the field.

2. Seattle suffered a serious blow to its offensive line when starting left tackle George Fant had his right leg rolled up in the second quarter and was carted off the field with his leg in an air cast. The second-year undrafted tackle was immediately replaced by guard Rees Odhiambo, who played there for the remainder of the game. Carroll said after the game Fant would need knee surgery and his season was in jeopardy -- a major setback for the converted basketball player, who gained nearly 20 pounds and has impressed coaches this offseason. If Fant is lost for an extended period of time, Seattle could keep 2016 third-round pick Odhiambo at left tackle or swap him inside with former Jaguars left tackle and current starting left guard Luke Joeckel.

3. Meet Kasen Williams, Seattle's newest big-play receiving threat. The third-year receiver has only one career reception to his name, but through two preseason games, has exploded onto the scene in Seattle with Paul Richardson and Tyler Lockett sidelined. After a four-catch, 119-yard showing against the Chargers in Week 1, the receiver made two stellar catches on Seattle's opening drive, including a one-handed snag surely to get some traffic on the dark web. If he can continue to earn his coach's praises and keep up the acrobatics in the coming weeks, Williams won't just secure a roster spot behind the likes of Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse; he'll be playing alongside them by Week 1.

4. Remember when Blair Walsh, then a member of the Vikings, missed a would-be game-winning 27-yard field goal in a 2015 wild-card loss to the Seahawks and subsequently lost his job? Well, now the exorcised kicker is Seattle's starting booter, and Friday night was his revenge game. Walsh went 2 for 3 on field-goal attempts, knocking in two 52-yard field goals in the third quarter. The kicker celebrated by mean-mugging the Minnesota sideline in what will go down as the best -- and only -- preseason kicker taunt in NFL history. Whatever helps you heal.

5. Football-as-prop celebrations are back, baby. They're back! Somewhere Chad Ochocinco weeps
