[h=1]Stanford Steve and The Bear: National championship game pick, prop bets [/h]We've made it to the finish line of a college football season like no other. The journey was difficult and messy, but it all comes down to a pair of the elite.
And here's our own elite pair, Stanford Steve Coughlin and Chris "The Bear" Fallica, breaking down the game as only they can. A hint: Neither is a fan of the total.

[h=3]No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (-8.5, 75.5)[/h](Monday, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN; at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida)
[h=3]Ohio State +8.5, under 75.5[/h]Stanford Steve: It shouldn't be a problem for Ryan Day to get his guys up again for a national championship game after they beat Clemson in the semifinals, a game that they had circled for a year. But most importantly, I think they found about a lot about themselves. Now, can they play as well as they did in the Sugar Bowl a little more than a week ago? I think Day will try to feed running back Trey Sermon as much as possible in the run game and try to keep the Bama offense off the field. I'll take the Buckeyes to cover.
Score prediction: Alabama 41, Ohio State 34
[h=3]Ohio State -3.5 (+340)[/h]The Bear: It's a better return than the straight money line, so, on the chance Ohio State pulls the upset, I'll take the +340 that the Buckeyes win by more than a field goal. Ten of Alabama's past 12 losses have been by greater than a field goal, and given the explosiveness of Ohio State's offense, I'll try and boost my return by laying 3.5 with the Buckeyes.
[h=2]Chris Olave first TD scorer (+850); Garrett Wilson first TD scorer (+1200)[/h]The Bear: Alabama's pass defense can be had -- see the Ole Miss and SEC Championship games -- and the Buckeyes wide receiver duo of Olave and Wilson do not get anywhere near the credit nationally that they deserve. The two have combined for 12 touchdown catches and better than 16 yards per catch in 13 combined games. If the Tide are short-handed in the secondary, it could leave them vulnerable to a big play early, so I'd look at both Olave and Wilson to score first.
[h=2]Olave over 95.5 yards receiving (-115)[/h]The Bear: The only game Olave played this year in which he did not have at least 100 yards was the Rutgers game -- a game that was 42-9 after three quarters and Olave didn't play in the fourth. This is one of those plays where if Ohio State is winning, odds are it's because Olave has had a big game. And if Ohio State is losing, he will be collecting yards through the air in an effort to get the Buckeyes back in the game.
[h=2]Justin Fields first TD scorer (11-1)[/h]The Bear: If the Alabama linebackers are focused on Fields' legs -- or think that possibly because Fields took a big hit vs. Clemson that he won't shake off -- it could allow Fields to have a very big impact in the red zone.
[h=2]Najee Harris over 110.5 rush yards (-115)[/h]The Bear: If the biggest area of concern for Ohio State entering this game is on the defensive line, then this is pretty much a no-brainer bet. Harris has put together some monster games when playing four quarters, and if the Buckeyes are shorthanded in the middle of the defensive line, Harris should go for 100 yards here, especially if the Tide take a lead and are looking to put the game away.
[h=2]First half over 38 points (-115)[/h]The Bear: In the past six games (excluding kneel-downs), Alabama has scored a touchdown on 25 of its past 33 first-half drives. Ohio State has scored a touchdown on five of its seven opening drives this season -- and the only game it didn't score on the opening drive (against Clemson), it scored touchdowns on the final five drives of the half. Day and Steve Sarkisian can draw up plays with the best of them. Look for there to be early points before defensive adjustments are made.
[h=2]Jahleel Billingsley over 48 receiving yards[/h]The Bear: Billingsley has been targeted much more recently. If Jaylen Waddle plays, Billingsley could be the one to benefit from the extra attention Ohio State has to give the wide receiver. Alabama has found ways to get tight ends more involved in the CFP, and Billingsley could be a matchup problem for the Ohio State linebacker unit.
