Tekari-

The fee schedule is not correct. They no longer charge an activation fee. Pretty funny, by waiving that they will get more people to apply who will be charged approx. 5 bucks per ATM and 5 bucks each month the card isnt used. They have a good racket going.

huh....

my $5 was an estimate:
$2 (neteller to card)
$1.50 (neteller ATM charge)
$1.50 (ATM owner charge)

Dante- are we on the same page or are the charges different?

we wont quibble over 50 cents when we're talking about a 1k withdrawal. as a matter of fact, the atm owner fee is the wildcard. ive paid from $0 to $5 depending on establishment.

From Neteller CS:

quote:
Dear Client,

If you apply for the NeTeller debit card during the month of December, the $5 signup fee that is usually applied will be waived(signup is free during December), and the dormant card charge will not be applied if the card does not have any activity on it, as those fees would be deducted from the balance of the card. If there are no funds on the card, then it will not be possible to charge that fee. If you wish to cancel your NeTeller debit card, please e-mail your request to debitcards@neteller.com, and your request will be processed as soon as possible.

Seems to me that as long as you do not keep a balnace on the card, you cannot be charged fees for inactivity. Only fees you would be dealing with are the $2 to go from Neteller to the card, and your bank fees.

FYI, have not been asked for a SS# from Neteller, and they didn't ask me for one to get the card. They do have my bank account number, so that must be enough.

They've changed the application process. A few months ago you had to complete an online "form" that asked for additional information.

I wonder why they've changed the process. THERE HAS TO BE A REASON!!!

Maybe the reason the application process changed is that they were getting little to no repsonse and wanted to try to push their product. I don't see why it has to be more complicated than that.

anyway ...im going to report back how I liked it...

I guess the trick is not to deposit funds and let it sit on your DEBIT card just let it sit in your neteller account until your ready to withdraw (taks 15mins) then take it out of the ATM. no dormant fees that way

Drunkguy, a few months ago when I had to give them my SS number they said they are getting around to every account to get this...but thats not a big deal as they could get that info anyway..and they "say" its for ID only..I think COLIN from neteller also said that

Drunkguy-

You're right..that's the easy answer for waiving the $5 buck fee. However, the additional information they requested would be seen by many as fairly important information and deciding to abort that process seems strange to me.

As you can tell, I like to peel a few layers of the onion a bit just to ensure what I think is there is actually there.

Dante-

Did this request for an SS number come out of the blue? Did you give them your SS number when you opened your account? If they need the number for "ID purposes" do they have a master list of SS numbers that they use to confirm that the number you give them matches the name on file.

I'm pretty uncomfortable with ANYONE having my bank account number and SS number. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Actually PrePaidATM has the same thing. A little cheaper actually: $1.50 fee per w/d. No activation fee or non-usage fee. Star network ATM card ($500 limit per day in US). I have made countless w/d's so I can vouch it works great.

I have mixed feelings about the Debitcard part of Neteller.

On the positive side. I loaded it up prior to a trip to Europe and the UK. Once there ATMs happily dispensed cash. In the UK it was limited to either 300 or 500 pounds, but I think this is a function of the ATM owner, not of Neteller Debitcard.

On the negative side, It is very difficult to get information such as a statement or current balance or exchange rates applied out of debitcards@neteller.com. First they replied, but would not provide information as my outgoing email address was different to my incoming one.
I have now fixed that problem, but have been waiting 12 days for a reply.

On balance, don't use them till they can provide an automated emailed statement; not one that requires manual assistance, and costs $5.00!

They give a lousy US-Canadian dollar exchange rate. You can bet about $20 per $1000 more at a local exchange house.

IMPORTANT for NETeller Debit Card!

I dont know whether it applies to you guys overseas. There are 3 options
to choose from at the ATM: Savings, Checking and Credit card. I admit for
being a ******* and chose Credit Card all the time and I paid a really HIGH
price for it.. I'm charged extra 50 USD for using credit card option...
For god sake chose the *CHECKING* option. :sad3:
