Hey ShottakerAreef,

Since when does neteller have any fiduciary responsibility to you?

How's that go exactly? You send your money to some s h i t h o l e place get stiffed and blame your ineptitude on a third party, who for the most part offers it services for free to you?

Than you have the audacity to post on a forum that it is a shit service?

Grow the phuck up.

Good Call! Areef, remember what you do offshore IS ILLEGAL!!! Unless you live in Maryland and use your Netteller for other purposes you have no leg to stand on!

"how gaming-friendly they are. Services such as e-gold and WebMoney are not quite as convenient to use due to the inability to directly transfer in and out of one's bank account,"

Phaedrus

What do you mean due to the inability to transfer in and out of ones bank account?

Bodog transfers right in and out of my bank account Ive been doing it for months now and havent had a singe problem...

how do they do this - is it true that noone else does this?

Jaypaw,

The guys from maryland knew since last fall that MD wasn't taking deposits. I'm not saying that they were wrong for continuing using the service, but they knew something was up. Unfortunately, they had to be the 1st (assuming there will be other states)to go through this, but it does help the rest of us. Unlike Fiestsux, I'll wait untill there is something to worry about in my area. There are so many more funding methods out there, going back to a local is not an option.

What I mean is, systems like Neteller can be easily linked up to a bank account and funds can be transferred back and forth via ETF/ACH ... this can't be done with systems like e-gold and WebMoney. This is not to say that you can't transmit money between a bank account and those systems; just that it isn't as quick or cheap as it is with Neteller, PayPal, etc.

Just got off the phone with Neteller rep. This is what he told me:

1. MD wanted Neteller to register all their clients. Neteller refused since this would set a bad precedent. With 700,000 clients from all over the world, it would become an ungodly task to register everyone, if it came to that.

2. He stated that it may only be a temporary situation if something can be worked out with MD (not holding my breath on this one).

3. He doesn't know why no advance notice was sent out to MD clients. The manager could better answer that, and he will not be in til 10:30 EST.

4. Maryland residents wanting to get info should email admin@neteller.com. He said Neteller MAY give some preferential treatment to longtime customers from MD (ie. possibly reopen accounts temporarily to check balances, view transactions, make final w/d, etc.). That is a BIG MAYBE, though.

5. Any MD resident wishing to set up a new account must have a 2nd address from a place other than MD. To prove it is your own address, you must show that some bill is sent there in your name. Important note - it doesn't matter if your BANK is from MD, only that YOU RESIDE there.

6. Any money left in your account can be sent to your bank if you call and request it.

BTW ... Fishhead, my money wasn't just sitting in Neteller. I had just completed a transfer from a book, and was about to make a W/d. I like my money working for me, too.

Let me add that just logging into Neteller from a Maryland IP address will trigger your account to be closed. They had planned to automated this many months ago but it apparently wasn't working. This fix went in but nonone there realized it and wammo, we got hit yesterday. At least this is what I got from my phone conversion with neteller.

They are sending me my balance via EFT and said they would mail me a complete statement of all my activity over the years since I can't log in to review it and verify that my blaance is correct.

I don't play at Bodog and they don't have any useful information on their site for non-accountholders, so I can't tell you what sort of arrangement they have. Sorry.

What a coincedence, the one day I let my money stay in Neteller overnight, they close my account. I have been told they will give me a call and let me know how my money will be sent. I dont care as long as it is sent.

If this is true, then what I was told is bogus. Opening a new account with a new address from a different state will still not work if you are still logging in from a Maryland IP address. By the way, is this possible? Can you tell where a person is from just by his IP address? You computer geeks please don't stone me if this is a stupid question.

Previously--I thought someone from Neteller posted that the state of Md. wanted to charge some type of fee to Neteller for it's users. Now above I read that Md wanted Neteller to "register" it's Md folks. Of course, both statements could be true. But--oh well!

yes MD Kid, with the IP address you can tell where a person is connecting from, pretty easy to do, just download a program and punch IP address and all is said and done.
