If you've read through the posts you would know that MJ usually only bets short lines. I would expect him to like UTEP in this spot but not laying 9.5.

You are correct...+5 to -5 is the first filter that I use for NCAAB.

If it doesn't pass that filter first...I don't even bother looking at it.

In reality...I may play something up to +6 or -6 because you have to allow a little line slippage, but those picks would get an extra eyeballing from me and have to be a perfect fit in all the other categories.

Before I get the question ...I'll answer it.

Why filter to a +5 to -5 line for NCAAB?

I researched it a few years ago and that was the sweet spot for my style of handicapping...it worked then and it appears to work now.

I have no interest in experimenting with it...it's not broke so I will leave it alone. Hope this helps.

Nothing qualifies today.

UConn is close, but it doesn't meet all the filters.

Nothing qualifies tonight...so that will be it for the NCAA experiment this year.

Some things didn't work...but we found a couple of gems for next year. I'll be expanding on the Home system for sure.

Thanks for following along...I'll be running these two systems again next year...probably starting some time in January after the first conference games.

Looks like a great foundation for next year! :103631605

MJ, looks like a fine job. Systems are tough to work, but looks like your investing brain power on it and paying attention closely, so that may be the key to going forward. GL.

It's time to bump this up...

I'll be looking at some games very soon.

I forgot how well we had finished last year and completely forgot about March Madness Tourney Picks as well.

I don't see why this shouldn't have success again...it has a very solid foundation in my opinion.

But last years record was probably more than we can hope to duplicate.

But we'll sure as hell try.

Scans complete for Wednesday...still nothing.

We will have something very soon...it's just a matter of getting some conference games under the belt.

I'm also working on a high volume system, for my own curiosity.

If it shows any promise I will share it here.

NCAAB Home System 2010.

These are the first picks that qualify this year.

We had great success last year in the month of February going 16-4 with this...and it adapted to the NCAA tournament going 7-4. That's all the history we have with this but I think it is based on solid ground.

I am starting a little earlier this year...all we need are some conference games and it should be good to go.

We can't expect the same results as last year...but lets hope it is solid. :toast:
Good luck!

It looks like many of the scoring services have this score wrong. I thought we lost the first game.

But apparently we did win it. :103631605

Bell hits last second 3-pointer, Chattanooga shocks The Citadel 56-54 to build winning streak By Associated Press

January 14, 2010 | 6:30 p.m.

<!-- sphereit start --> CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Keegan Bell hit a 3-pointer in the game's final second, sending Chattanooga to a 56-54 win over The Citadel on Thursday night.

The Mocs led The Citadel for the entire game until the Bulldogs put together a 5-0 run during a 2-minute span, taking a 54-53 lead on Cameron Wells' layup with 1:01 left. Wells also went 2-for-2 from the free throw line during the spree.

But, after Zach Urbanus missed a 3-pointer to extend The Citadel's lead, Wells missed a layup with 3 seconds left that would have sealed it for The Citadel. Chattanooga then came out of a timeout, got Bell the ball and he nailed his shot for the win.
