T-Mac has arthritic shoulder and will have surgery after the season. The odds in this guy toughing it out all season are about 100-1. I bet he has surgery in March because he can stand the pain.

"The fact is, I played on one leg for two years," says O'Neal, whose averages shrank to 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds in 42 games last season after he reinjured his knee in 2006-07. "You hear people say that you slowed down, that you don't have it anymore -- but you know that you still have it. All the naysayers who are saying that I lost a step, they'll get a full dosage of me next year."

Here is a quote he had before last season though.....

Here's a quote from the Pacers.com Q & A last August.

But all in all I'm healthy, finally. Do I think I'm going to get hurt this year? No. I've never walked into the season with the goal of playing 82 games the last three years because I knew what I was dealing with and I knew it was going to be a process of me getting my body together. A couple of times I walked into camp and I was still rehabbing. But this year, it's totally different. I've stayed around here - quietly - every single day. I only leave on the weekends. I'm here, I'm focused and I'm ready. For the critics out there, I appreciate them. I hear what they say. I criticize myself, too. Even though the last six or seven years I've been one of the most consistent 20-nine (points-rebounds) guys in the league, maybe in the top five. To me, that's not good enough. I take it personally when I hear other people being talked about on that elite level and all of a sudden I'm being pushed out of it. That is a major issue to me. This year, I'll be back.

:lol::lol:

Maybe this season he will be right, but im not betting on it.

Yea, sure JO.

If that Oklahoma City crowd gets crunk for the Thunder like they did for the Hornets, watch out. Durant and Green with a season under their belts will be much improved. Isn't Wilcox in a contract year? I'll get on these kids as home dogs.

Just stop talking about OK now...they are gonna take a few years to develop and by the time they develop they will tear the team up and they will be sprinkled all over the NBA...thats just how it works

Grizzlies are where they belong...they would do decent in the east but they arent in the east...they have to play San Antonio, Houston , Dallas and New Orleans how many times a year???? It's like the poor Blue Jays in the AL East...they are better than record shows every year but they have to deal with Bos, NY and TB for 1/3 of their schedule

Serious, Don't mind Rude Lef. He has this NBA system. It's called taking every double digit dog. Needless to say, he'll be on OKC a number of times..

Did you read Hollinger's team previews for the East?

I usually don't like this guy at all. Those player efficiency ratings are pretty fucking worthless, but his breakdown of the teams are decent. He does a good job of highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah, I read through them but I was pretty drunk so I dont remember much of it. I did think he did a nice job, but as soon as he gets to the PER stuff I just skip over the rest of the column. I thought he has some interesting stuff in the parts that I read. Im glad its worth a read, I will go check it out later today.

You see Manu is out unril mid December?

Also, look at this idiot and what he had to say. Let the sabotage begin....

So Odom acknowledged he’s conflicted about his personal and team agendas, especially after Phil Jackson continues to ponder his brainstorm from the end of last season that the Lakers might be better served with Odom as a sixth man and defensive ace Trevor Ariza starting.

“Whatever he wants, I guess I would do,” Odom said. “But I wouldn’t suggest (a reserve role), especially in a year where I want to be on the court for obvious reasons.”

Jackson also offered this little dig when asked about the possible bench role motivating Odom to work harder: “I don’t know. I’ve never seen Lamar motivated before.”

Yeah, I've basically just been reading the strengths and weaknesses. Last years recaps and how many rebounds divided by assists multiplied by minutes in the 4th quarter to the square root of their shoe size I have just been skipping..

Lamar and motivated are like oil and water..

The upset of the first day of training camp at Skidmore College is Jerome James made it through the first session and Eddy Curry was nowhere to be found. Curry was back at the hotel room battling what the team called a bacterial infection and could miss the whole weeklong camp. Curry actually went to Saratoga Hospital to be evaluated. This is costly days for Curry since he came into camp out of shape and has to change his entire game to fit Mike D'Antoni's system. He'll probably be out till the earliest Thursday.

Curry was said to be vomiting all through last night. Mike D'Antoni, always the quipster, said it could be a blessing in disguise. Throwing up is a good way to lose weight, cracked D'Antoni.

If I were a betting man, I'd say the starting frontcourt on opening night is David Lee at center, Zach Randolph at power forward, Wilson Chandler at small forward. Randolph impressed D'Antoni with his running today and the mood was incredibly upbeat, with players finally saying that after years of confusion, at least they'll have an identity as a running club.

It was the type of grind that Suns defensive star Raja Bell experienced when he played for the Utah Jazz.

"I've never been a big fan of practicing 'D,' " Bell said. "Defense takes a lot of work. Practice is no different than games. That's why a lot of guys don't necessarily want to do it in games, because it takes a lot of energy, and it's work.

"These practices are a lot different than Mike's (previous coach Mike D'Antoni). We didn't do a lot of defense in Mike's practices. There was a lot of offense. Those are just different philosophies. Guys will just have to get used it, me included. It was a tough first one."

Shaquille O'Neal wants to lead the Suns more.

"Last year, I had to play it nice," he said. "I'm sure there was some bad verbiage that came from the other organization (his previous team, the Miami Heat) about me. So I had to show everybody I'm a nice guy.

"I'm going to step up and take over. As far as vocal leadership and getting everyone ready and knocking people out when they (mess) around - yeah, I got that."
