It was not a save situation. He blew 1 save this season.

So what exactly did he do again ?

[h=1]Aroldis Chapman earns fourth save[/h]By Chris Zolli, Yankees Correspondent, Tue, Apr 18th 8:29am EDT
Aroldis Chapman threw two pitches for the Yankees last night, allowing a single to Leury Garcia and inducing a double play from Tyler Saladino to earn the 8th consecutive win for the Yankees. This is the first appearance where Chapman did not record a strikeout, sixth overall, and the second where he came in the middle of the inning. Chapman has yet to allow a run this season.

Kimbrel needs a team:

[h=3]Nationals interested in Craig Kimbrel[/h]For whatever you think about Craig Kimbrel, it’s been undeniably strange how few rumors there have been around him this winter. Yes, he was reportedly asking for an absurd sum of money to start the winter, but every free agent does that. You start with a high ask in negotiations. It’s possible his agency is just extremely tight-lipped, of course, and that there have been a lot of discussions with a variety of teams and we just haven’t heard them. Still, just from our position on the outside it’s been almost entirely quiet on the Kimbrel front. That changed on Saturday, and he could have a new team sooner than later. The Nationals are interested in the future Hall of Famer, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

237 for Chap

Chapman needed just eight pitches, all fastballs, for his first save and his velocity was back to 97-98 mph after dipping to 95 mph in last week's opener.

Saves and closers are extremely over-rated . It certainly would be nice to have a Rivera/ Chapman/ Kimbrel/ Hoffman/ Gossage type of guy available come playoff time but not absolutely essential, they are not infallible, monies better spent on an ace , or at least top 30 type sort of starter that you can rely on for 25+ starts and 175 + innings, and once into the playoffs let the chips fall wherever they may.

There was once a time when starters oftenly pitched complete games or went like 8 innings frequently, in the old days a guy might even have pitched both games of a double header, now 7 innings is exceptional ! Most modern teams carry 13 pitchers, or more than half of the 25 man allotment , so 8 relievers usually and a few more in the wings in the minors with options that can be brought up if needed/ sent down at will and cost virtually nothing relatively
It all combines to make the concept of paying a Kimbrel some absurd salary like 6/120 ( probably what he really wants ? ) Patently insane, especially for a rapidly aging 60 inning guy considering the methods teams now use to evaulate a player's true value

Congrats on save 15 of 2019 Aroldis

Adam Ottavino, Tommy Kahnle, Zack Britton and Aroldis Chapman provided four scoreless innings — with Chapman recording the final three outs for his 15th save in 16 tries — after David Hale allowed two runs in four innings.

With Thursday's save, Kimbrel is now tied for 10th on MLB's all-time saves list with Jeff Reardon (367).
