Grats on save 231 Aroldis

Aroldis Chapman , in his first appearance since throwing only three of 19 pitches for strikes last weekend against the Mets, worked around a leadoff single and a walk for his 27th save. He struck out Whit Merrifield to strand runners at the corners.

It's 1% plain and simple - plenty young relievers out here with a good number of saves...

Actually less than 1%%%

Less then 1 percent?

Mo's a physical specimen you see once in a lifetime. Kinda like Brady is in football

Agree. And he was still pretty dominant right through the end of his career. He was 43 when he retired and was still one of the best closers in the game at that age.

I don’t know how you come up with Mo being more of a physical specimen then kimbrel .

I mean kimbrel still throws the ball 10MPH harder then Mo did on his best day . I would call that physical specimenish

Im assuming he meant his career longevity and being able for the most part to remain healthy and continue to dominate in his early 40s.

No one can match the Mo special...the cutter. Velocity, location and movement. Case closed.

5team you're a good guy. You are just mis-informed.
Its ok.
Just remember to bump this thread when Kimbrel gets his 700th save.

May not top 420 unless he's willing to work for a couple mill per year after he completes his highway robbery of CHC in fall of 2022

And even then he would need to work another seven to eight years to catch Rivera

Hard to believe he already has almost 200 saves.
Hes going to shatter Rivera.
I dont know why anyone thinks thats such a crazy statement.

All you have to do is look at his age and grab a calculator.

Its that simple.

Only a career ending injury will stop him.

Not only is he going to retire with more saves the MR, he is going to shatter it.

If you still think his odds are less then .5% you are nothing less then an idiot.

The save stat has not matured yet.600 saves is going to get broken many times in the next 50 years.
The career saves leader in 2012 is the equivalent of what being the career homerun leader was in 1912.

We are just now getting to the point of the 1st generation career 1 inning save specialist retiring now.
And the 2 best of the 1st generation are both number 1 and 2 in career saves.
Kimbrel will probably have his 200th save at the same age Rivera was when he got his 1st.

In fact, the "designated closer" is a diminishing role

Past four complete seasons, men with 35+ Saves:

2016. 10
2017. 7
2018. 6
2019. 4

CK has not topped 35 Saves in six years

Hmmm...thought this would be the Chop controversy thread. When Choptalk was blitzed one night and uttered blasphemy that Kimbrel will have more saves than Mariano.
