Kimbrel will probably have his 200th save at the same age Rivera was when he got his 1st.

Well well well.
Look at this gem from page 1.
I guess we can call this the first locked up prediction of the thread.

MR got his 200th save at 31.5 years old.
CK is 8 saves away from getting his 200th at 27 years old.

Maybe I should have said CK will get his 400th save at the same age MR got his 200th save.

So right now Kimbrels pace is 4.5 years ahead of Rivera.

Thats about a 250 save above pace.

This record will be shattered.

Heck he has so much cushion right now he can afford to have 2 or 3 Tommy John surgeries and still do it.

Francisco Rodriguez had 243 before age 28. Think Kimbrel will get 50 within the next year to be ahead of his pace?

how many players remain stars into their 40's?

Kimbrel will not have Mo's longevity, nobody else has

furthermore, he has to avoid injury and / or being moved out of the closer's spot as he ages and somebody better comes along

congrats on save 231 Craig

Closer Craig Kimbrel, returning to his former Atlanta home, struck out Freeman to cap a perfect ninth for his sixth save - one night after his first blown save.

Rivera's record might last forever; no other closer is going to play for such a huge-spending team for 20 years in a row.

Wrong. Pay in baseball is going up not down. And closer is about the most least taxing job physically in all of sports.

Not only is Kimbrel gonna break it, many others in the future will break it.

Rivera will be lucky to still be in the top 5 25 years from now

save 237 for craig. tied with ugeth urbiNa

Kimbrel earned his 12th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning while striking out two Sunday against the Indians.
Kimbrel was protecting a three-run lead, and he needed only nine pitches to close out the victory. He's now held opponents scoreless over his last 10 outings and boasts a 2.37 ERA to go along with a 0.74 WHIP.

this is going the way of the next Mickey Mantle my friend, not happening (very unlikely)

has to remain healthy, closers have arm problems too

has to keep his stuff for a long time

has to remain the closer for a long time

how on earth can you or anyone predict his physical condition for the next 10+ years?

since the overwhelming majority of bodies will break down, my assumption is that his will too

Congrats on save 258 Craig

Craig Kimbrel allowed a run in the ninth but recovered for his second save of the season. He’s converted 21 chances in a row.

He's absolutely dominating.
Is he as good as Jose Mesa yet.

He is going to shatter Marionos save record.
I said that 4 years ago .

Can we get an update on the 1% thing haha

haha, I thought by now it might start sinking in he's not going to have the health and longevity and lifelong talent Mo had. Mo was one of a kind, Mo is a freak of nature

I suppose tomorrow's another day :)

only 39 saves a year for the next 10 years and baddabing, he's tied

You act as if 39 saves for 10 years is this so unobtainable thing.
Its not for Kimbrel . I expect him to do that for at least the next 15.

He is not only going to break MR he's going to shatter MR

And MR is not more talented the. CK.
Any scout will be more them happy to tell you that.
Longevity is the only thing MR may or may not better at then CK.
Only way we can find that out is time
