Nothing traveled through the deadly Van Allen radiation belts. No fuel cell technology exists to keep anyone alive on the moon for any length of time, let alone days. Not now, and certainly not 50 years ago. Go look up the extreme moon temps, then figure out the material density you would need not to completely fry or freeze to death.
