GAME: San Diego Padres @ San Francisco Giants Sep 7, 2009 4:05PM

PICK: Over 8

REASON FOR PICK: San Francisco’s pitching has been outstanding of late as it has allowed two runs or fewer in six straight games, giving up an average of only 1.5 rpg over that span. This is now precisely to time to go against that especially with what we have going for the starting pitching. The Giants send Brad Penny to the mound and he is coming off a spectacular outing in his first start with San Francisco as he allowed no runs on five hits in eight innings at Philadelphia. We can look at that or we can look at what he has done as a whole. In 25 total starts, 24 coming with Boston, he has a 5.28 ERA and 1.49 WHIP and while it can be argued that was in the American League and now he is back in the National League, I still believe that he is not as good as what we saw last time out. He faced the Padres numerous times while with the Dodgers and in his last six starts, he has a 6.28 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. He will be opposed by Clayton Richard who has not looked much better in San Diego than he did in his time with the White Sox. Overall, he has a 4.61 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 21 starts and 12 relief appearances and pitching away from home has been even worse as he has a 5.06 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 11 starts and six appearances out of the bullpen. In five starts in San Diego, two have come at home and three on the road. The two home outings resulted in quality performances while the three road starts resulted in a 9.75 ERA and 2.58 WHIP with none of those being quality. 3* Over San Diego Padres/San Francisco Giants

Bluechip Cincy

Thanks for the play, just throwing this out there because there have already been two or three plays like this, but if the play is on Cincy can you guys specify if it's NCAAF or MLB. Thanks again for the play! Just trying to eliminate more questions.

Total Points OVER 47 -110 for Game

I fully expect to see a close game going down to the wire. I have studied both of these teams and expect a score in the low 50's or high 40's Here is why.
Cincinnati returns seven starters on offense and is loaded at the skill positions, but Rutgers has a talented defense, especially in the front seven. Cinc has 2 great running backs John Goebel and Jacob Ramsey who will favor to the LT where the solid Jeff Linkenbach will pave the way. Both backs weigh over 225 pounds and don’t have that breakaway speed but they do pound their way down the field. , Look for the Defense to be wore down late in the game. Last year Rutgers did a great job holding these two punishers to only 106 yards rushing. Don’t let that scare you, this strong running game will only open up the mix of the passing game by QB Tony Pike. If the Bearcats can give Pike time to survey the field, it will be a long day for Rutgers.
On the other side of the ball look for the difference to be in the Rutgers offensive line, lead by LT Anthony Davis, who is just enormous at 6-6, 325 pounds and will surly be playing on Sundays next year. He should be a 1st round draft pick. The weakness will be a QB, they have to replace Mike Teel and neither of the 2 prospects have much experience.
This should be a much higher scoring game than last years 13-10 victory by Cincinnati. Take the over here and enjoy the game.
I have a 2** play on the spread today as well.

This is a 1* play.
