Preview: Dodgers at Diamondbacks

GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (43-34) at Arizona Diamondbacks (36-39)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 29 - 9:40 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
LINE: -153, 141 TOTAL: 9

The Los Angeles Dodgers have allowed just 11 runs during the first seven games of their road trip and look for three more stingy outings when they close the excursion with a set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The bullpen has been superb as Los Angeles relievers have combined for 12 2/3 scoreless innings over the last five games entering Monday's series opener.

The Dodgers have won four of those five contests and own a one-game lead over San Francisco in the National League West. Los Angeles right fielder Yasiel Puig walked three times while going 0-for-2 in Sunday's 2-0 win over Miami in his first start since Tuesday due to an injured left hand. The Dodgers are 7-2 against the Diamondbacks this season - including a three-game sweep in Arizona from June 8-10 - as they have won seven in a row after losing the first two meetings. The Diamondbacks are beginning a seven-game homestand after a 2-4 road trip that ended with Sunday's 6-4 victory over San Diego.

TV: 9:40 p.m. ET, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles), FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Mike Bolsinger (4-2, 2.95 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Allen Webster (1-1, 6.46)

Bolsinger is winless over his last three turns after defeating Arizona on June 8. He was stellar in that outing, allowing two runs and three hits over seven innings in his lone outing against the franchise with which he made his major-league debut last season. Bolsinger is 0-1 with a 3.81 ERA in five road starts this season.

Webster won his Arizona debut on June 13 before struggling in his next two starts. He allowed six runs, five hits and five walks over 5 1/3 innings in losing to the Los Angeles Angels on June 18 and gave up five runs (three earned) and six hits in 4 1/3 frames of a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday. Webster is 7-6 with a 6.28 ERA in 22 major-league appearances (21 starts).

WALK-OFFS

1. Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt is riding a nine-game hitting streak and also has fared well in nine contests against the Dodgers this season, going 15-for-36 with four homers and 10 RBIs.

2. Los Angeles 1B Adrian Gonzalez, who was 6-for-13 in the three-game series against the Marlins, is homerless with one RBI in 34 at-bats against Arizona this season.

3. Arizona C Welington Castillo hit a three-run homer in Sunday's win - his third blast in his last seven games.

Preview: Rockies at Athletics

GAME: Colorado Rockies (33-42) at Oakland Athletics (34-44)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 29 - 10:05 PM EST
WHERE: O.co Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: 151, -164 TOTAL: 8

One of the hottest-hitting players in baseball, Nolan Arenado also is the leading RBI man in the major leagues. Arenado has driven in 68 runs - including 33 this month - and looks to increase that total as he leads the Colorado Rockies into the opener a three-game road series against the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

Arenado homered twice to raise his season total to 24 and collected three RBIs on Sunday, but the Rockies dropped a 6-3 decision to San Francisco. He set a franchise record by registering at least one hit and one run scored for the 12th consecutive contest and brings a 15-game hitting streak into the series opener. "It's all about winning. I hit two homers, but I can't really enjoy it because we lost," Arenado told reporters. "I'm thankful I had a good game, but we lost, and the big picture is winning games." The Athletics started a 10-game homestand on Friday and scored just seven runs while suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of Kansas City.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, ROOT (Colorado), CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH David Hale (2-2, 5.86 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Kendall Graveman (4-4, 3.86)

Hale is winless over his last three starts as he has allowed 14 earned runs and 22 hits in 15 2/3 innings. He wasn't involved in the decision in his last turn, when he gave up five runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 frames against Arizona. Hale has served up eight homers in 35 1/3 innings this season.

Graveman defeated Texas in his last turn, giving up two runs and eight hits over seven innings. It was his lone victory in his last four starts despite allowing just six earned runs in 29 frames during that stretch. Graveman is 0-3 with a 7.84 ERA in four home outings this year.

WALK-OFFS

1. Athletics CF Billy Burns went 2-for-5 on Sunday to extend his hitting streak to 16 games - one shy of the franchise rookie record shared by Mike Edwards (1978), Luis Polonia (1987) and Terrence Long (2000).

2. Colorado SS Troy Tulowitzki is riding a 12-game hitting streak and has been held without a hit just once in his last 25 contests.

3. Oakland DH Billy Butler is 2-for-22 over his last seven games.

Preview: Yankees at Angels

GAME: New York Yankees (41-35) at Los Angeles Angels (39-37)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 29 - 10:05 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
LINE: 120, -130 TOTAL: 8

The only team CC Sabathia has defeated over his last seven starts is the Los Angeles Angels, and he looks to repeat that feat when the New York Yankees visit Angel Stadium on Monday for the opener of a three-game series. Sabathia has been torched regularly this season as opposing batters are hitting .306 with 17 home runs against him.

Sabathia allowed two runs and five hits while striking out seven over six innings in beating the Angels in New York on June 7. He was ejected for arguing balls and strikes after serving up solo homers to Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. C.J. Wilson, who will start for Los Angeles, has enjoyed success against Yankees sluggers Alex Rodriguez (3-for-24) and Mark Teixeira (2-for-25, one homer). Pujols, who is 1-for-15 over his last four games, has hit 12 homers in June - one shy of matching the club mark for most shots in any month shared by Tim Salmon (June 1996) and Mo Vaughn (May 2000).

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, YES (New York), FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (3-7, 5.65 ERA) vs. Angels LH C.J. Wilson (5-6, 3.92)

Sabathia has allowed seven homers over his last four starts, including two in his most recent outing against Philadelphia. He received a no-decision against the Phillies despite giving up six runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Sabathia is 9-8 with a 3.97 ERA in 19 career starts against Los Angeles.

Wilson was torched by Houston in his last outing, when he gave up a season-worst seven earned runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. The loss occurred after he put together two straight strong starts in which he allowed one run and 10 hits over 15 frames. Wilson lost when matched up against Sabathia earlier this month as he gave up six runs and seven hits - including three homers - in seven innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Trout has hit just one homer over his last 15 contests.

2. New York CF Brett Gardner is 23-for-49 with four homers, 15 runs scored and 11 RBIs over his last 11 games.

3. Los Angeles SS Erick Aybar (hamstring) could return to the starting lineup after being limited to pinch-hitting duties the past two games.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Mike Bolsinger will be the starting pitcher for the Dodgers on this day.
Right hander Bolsinger is 4-2 this season with a 2.95 ERA.

The Dodgers were a 2-0 winner in their most recent outing on the road against the Marlins.
That made winners of bettors who got Los Angeles at -221 on the moneyline,
while the total score (2) was good news for UNDER bettors.

It'll be Allen Webster toeing the rubber for the Diamondbacks in this contest.
Right hander Webster is 1-1 with a 6.46 ERA so far this season.

Last time out for Arizona, they were a 6-4 winner as they battled the Padres on the road.
Moneyline bettors who got the Diamondbacks at -105 were rewarded,
while the 10 combined runs moved the game OVER for totals bettors.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -145

Texas Rangers vs. Baltimore Orioles
Texas Rangers+124

The Rangers lost two of three in Toronto as the offense continues to fizzle. Texas scored two runs in the two losses and going back, it has scored three runs or less in eight of its last 10 games, averaging just 2.5 rpg over that 10-game stretch. The pitching has held up for the most part but the last of offense has pushed the Rangers back to .500 overall and five games behind the Astros in the American League West. Baltimore continues to surge as a three-game sweep over Cleveland extended its winning streak to four games overall and five straight at home. Additionally, the Orioles are 7-1 over their last eight games and dating back to their last homestand, they are 10-1 over their last 11 home games. Bud Norris has been involved in just one of those home games however and he was fortunate to get nine runs of support as it was an average outing against the Yankees. In four home starts, Baltimore is 3-1 but not because he has pitched well but because he has received 5, 7, 18 and 9 runs along the way. He has a 7.97 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in those games. Texas turns to Wandy Rodriguez who looks to shake off a horrible outing last time out where he allowed eight runs in four innings against Oakland. It was just the third time this season he has allowed more than three runs and he followed the other two up with quality outings that turned into victories. The Rangers are 7-0 in his last seven starts as an underdog. Play (907) Texas Rangers

Game of the Day: Yankees at Angels

New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels (-130, 8)

Pujols, who is 1-for-15 over his last four games, has hit 12 homers in June – one shy of matching the club mark for most shots in any month shared by Tim Salmon (June 1996) and Mo Vaughn (May 2000).

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, YES (New York), FSN West (Los Angeles)

LINE HISTORY: Oddsmakers opened the Angels as -130 faves with a total of 8.

INJURY REPORT: Yankees – SS Brendan Ryan (15-day DL, back), CF Jacoby Ellsbury (Early July, knee). Angels – RF Collin Cowgill (15-day DL, wrist).

WEATHER FORECAST: Temperatures will be in the high 70s with wind blowing out to centerfield at around 8 mph.

WHAT CAPPERS SAY: “Yankees’ pitching has imploded as their 4.56 ERA for the month of June is worst in the AL and last week their starters had a 7.18 ERA. It’s ironic that the starter who had the best week was Ivan Nova making his first appearance in over a year (Tommy John surgery). But NY is still tied for the division league.” Al McMordie.

Wilson lost when matched up against Sabathia earlier this month as he gave up six runs and seven hits – including three homers – in seven innings.

TRENDS:

* Yankees are 5-0 in the last five meetings.
* Yankees are 6-1 in Sabathias last seven starts vs. Angels.
* Under is 4-0 in Angels last four overall.
* Angels are 0-4 in Wilsons last four starts vs. American League East.

CONSENSUS: Sixty percent are backing the Angels.
