Even though Atletico took care of Barca relatively easy at home. I believe this matchup will be tougher. Because of the size of the Germans. That was one of the main reasons I knew Luis Suarez would score vs Ateltico and he did twice, because I knew Atletico would shut down Messi and Neymar because they can give them pressure and body contact that they aren't used to and do not like. Bayern has a handful of guys that are big and can score. As I run through the outcomes in my head and break them all down I don't see how Bayern wont score. Plus this is the first time these teams have met in 40 years. So this isn't a familiar foe where you know what to expect and how to defend each player like it was VS Barca. My issue is Diego Godin being out. But, I have to include the form of play Bayern play on the road vs Atletico does at home. Atletico at home is now one of the biggest advantages in all of sports. Because that guy Diego Simeone is like a God to these people and this team.
Therefore they will die for him on this pitch. One of my biggest plays of the year pending this game will be Atletico on the road in Bayern Munich.
Perception is this game from my perspective is Bayern can win on the road in a high scoring game because Atletico is due one goal. That's how most will see this match, or they will expect Atletico to win in a low scoring game. I see it the exact opposite.
Bayern Munich's centre backs are not that quality. I expect Pep, one of the best coaches in the world to play tight back there knowing that and defend for sure but both teams have too much ability to combo passes and score a goal.
Atletico is missing the top centre back in the world and their team captain in Diego Godin. He pulled a hammy last week in the first 10 minutes vs Atletic Bilbao. So he is in a race against time to be fit for the second leg in Germany. All he has to do is play in that game at 80% and they will win and he will have 3 weeks off before the final.
But the replacements for Atletico are high quality. Gimenez and Savic both solid players.
Bayern's lineup is playing with pace. Pep is starting Coman and Costa both are runners. But surprisingly you have Gotze, Muller, and Ribbery on the bench. Very interesting. Muller will come in later for sure. So it is easy to expect them to treat giving up goals as a sin. Both teams will. BUT, I just for some reason expect their to be some goals. Everyone is on the under and under in the first half. Like I said above, Bayern wins in a low scoring game or Atletico wins in a high scoring game. and I believe the value is with Atletico in the 2nd leg and not the first. I don't see a 1-0 atletico result here at home in the first leg. But onto plays

Bayern also likes Centre backs who are passive, that can control the ball back there. Boateng is just that. He went down with a knee injury. He is a public perception player that the public thinks is bad but is really good. So when he is missing it is a bigger problem for Bayern then the public thinks IMO.
