Chris Sale picked up the second shutout of his major league career on Friday, allowing just two hits over nine masterful innings against the Rays.
Sale punched out nine in the dazzling performance, while both of the hits that he allowed were singles. The 27-year-old southpaw needed just 106 pitches to complete the masterpiece, his first shutout since May 12, 2013. He now sits at 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 23/3 K/BB ratio over 23 frames on the season. He'll look to continue his dominance on Wednesday when he takes on the Angels at home.
