First Responder Bowl

Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Texas San Antonio

Suggested Line 1: Louisiana Lafayette -10.58
Suggested Line 2: Louisiana Lafayette -10.75
Suggested Line 3: Louisiana Lafayette -11.12
Suggested Line 4: Louisiana Lafayette -10.86

PLAY: Texas San Antonio Road Runners +14 (10 Units)

I have never been a fan of betting on double digit favorites in these early Bowl Games but we've already seen one cover this Bowl Season are we in for a second? Not so sure about that? My systems likes the UTSA Roadrunners to keep this game within the number and put up a fight against one of the best offenses in the early Bowl Season. Having said all of that this UTSA defense is ranked #19 in the Country with 11 takeaways and they come in ranked #42 in points scored defense which is impressive considering the type of conference they play in. Neither one of these teams has played in over a month so I think we'll see some sloppy play in the early going but I also think an entire month off benefits UTSA who should be more motivated for this game. The Roadrunners come into the Bowl Season having won three straight games and in two of those games they covered the spread by 25 or more points. Impressive. ULL won their Super Bowl against Appalachian State the last time we saw them play, something they had not done in forever and what are they rewarded with? A Bowl Game against UTSA. Not sure how motivated they are going to be but ULL was 0-4 ATS as a double digit favorite until their last two instances late in the season to finish 2-4 ATS when favored by 10 or more in 2020. ULL comes into this game only 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games coming off a straight up win and they are only 2-5 ATS in their last seven games. UTSA comes into this game 4-0 ATS in their last four games played on FieldTurf and they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games versus a team with a winning record on the season. I'm going with UTSA to keep this close.

Trend of the Game: Texas San Antonio is 5-1 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record.

Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State

Suggested Line 1: Georgia State -4.59
Suggested Line 2: Georgia State -5.23
Suggested Line 3: Georgia State -5.17
Suggested Line 4: Georgia State -6.98

PLAY: Georgia State Panthers -3 (10 Units)

This should be a good game and my system is picking the Georgia State Panthers to win this game and cover the spread. First and foremost the Panthers have a winning record on the season while Western Kentucky got in with a losing record. Both teams come into the Bowl season playing some pretty good football which should at least make this a pretty good game. Western Kentucky comes into the game having covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games but in the three games where they were an underdog and covered the spread they managed to keep only one of those games within 3 points. Georgia State comes into this game having last played on November 28 which is sometimes concerning because of the slow start factor but they are coming in off some big wins over South Alabama and Georgia Southern and their only loss since Halloween night was against Appalachian State where they lost 17-13 but covered the +18 point underdog spread. This is also the same Georgia State team that took ULL to overtime in their season opener and lost by 3 points so we know what they can do. Western Kentucky comes into this game 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games versus non-conference opponents and they are 1-5 ATS in their last six games versus Sun Belt Conference opponents. Georgia State is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing less than 170 passing yards in their previous game. AS bad as the Georgia State defense has played at times this year they've played some of the top G5 offenses. Western Kentucky is not one of them. The Hilltoppers rank 120th in the Nation in total yards and they rank 111th in passing yards per game (the struggle of the Georgia State defense is the passing game). I like Georgia State to win big.

Trend of the Game: Georgia State is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing less than 170 passing yards in their previous game.

Cure Bowl

Liberty vs. Coastal Carolina

Suggested Line 1: Coastal Carolina -9.92
Suggested Line 2: Coastal Carolina -9.12
Suggested Line 3: Coastal Carolina -10.15
Suggested Line 4: Coastal Carolina -9.97

PLAY: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers -6.5 (10 Units)

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have been money makers all year and this game tonight features two of the best ATS teams in the Country. Liberty comes into this game 8-2 ATS on the season while Coastal Carolina is 8-2-1 ATS on the season. That should even things out on both sides and I'm sure both sides will have a ton of support. My system likes Coastal Carolina in this one. So many people thought they should have a spot in a New Year's 6 Bowl Game and that they could make noise in a NY6 Bowl Game but they never got the opportunity and I think they probably feel a bit slighted. I mean we are talking about a team that just went 11-0 this season and won all the big games they were supposed to win. I would have absolutely loved to see them play a Power 5 Conference opponent and they can kind of be compared to the Boise State teams of the 2000's. Having said all of that the chance to finish a season 12-0 straight up is special and Coastal Carolina has that tonight. Another HUGE factor is that Liberty have not played a game of football since November 27 while Coastal Carolina just beat Troy in a wild game on December 12. Coastal Carolina comes into this game 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record and they are 4-0 ATS in their last four games versus INDEPENDENT opponents. The Chanticleers are also 5-1 ATS in their last six non-conference games and are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games overall coming into this. Not sure if this matters to some or not but Coastal Carolina is also 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games played on a Field Turf surface and that's what they will get tonight in Orlando. I'm going with Coastal Carolina one last time in 2020.

Trend of the Game: Coastal Carolina is 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record on the season.

Tough way to break the perfect streak but we had a chance at the end and the stars did not align the way they previously had in some of these games. Nonetheless it's been a great run and looking to continue today.

7-1 ATS (+59.00 Units) this Bowl Season with more to come!

Feels weird without the post-Christmas "volume days" of Bowl Games but makes it easier to track and follow this way and we've got a couple of big days coming up with the CFB Semis on Saturday. NBA System (now 11-2 ATS this season in Test Mode) and CBB System (now 8-2 ATS this season in Test Mode) are almost ready to roll out for when football is done and still working pretty hard on my Soccer System as well. Good luck to everyone this week!
