You need to rewatch this video below (which is almost entirely dedicated to the checkerboard) and then look at all the other videos and movies I've shown above. This is not coincidence.
You make an interesting point about the checkerboard flag in car racing. It may be something that they grandfathered in... you never know. Just like Virginia and Maryland are right next to each other (the Virgin Mary)... and what are they birthing?
Ha ha! I’ll be damned! I click on the first video I see of Drake called In My Feelings and there it was. I didn’t finish watching it but stopped right at the point where it looks like he’s eating at a deli and I got a glimpse of the floor. You damn right, only they didn’t have checker pieces out to play.

Clicked on first CB video that came up.... and... the video starts out with the pyramids. There is an "allusion" to a checkerboard floor, but can't really count it b/c it's not an exact checkerboard floor. It's a reach. Though they probably made it to look like that:
