Alabama House resolution honors Miss California for opposing gay marriage

APCarrie Prejean at the Miss USA Pageant on Sunday in Las Vegas: "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."
MONTGOMERY -- The Alabama House has approved a resolution that praises Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean for speaking out against gay marriage. The House approved the resolution Thursday by Republican Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery on a voice vote.
Prejean was competing as Miss California and finished second after answering a question from judge Perez Hilton concerning gay marriage during Sunday night's televised pageant. She said she felt marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Love said Prejean stuck to her convictions even if it meant losing the pageant.
Love said he has received a number of e-mails and phone calls from across the country since introducing the resolution. He said more than half of those disagreed with the resolution.

i think its funny and sad commentary in the US when someone like this has her opinion weighed or judged more then elected officials.

why didnt you say anything about obama then. he said basically the same thing. obama said no disrespect to anyone, but i believe marriage is between a man and a woman. i dont remember any uproar like this with this girl.

Obama was a shithead for saying it too. It was probably the most headslapping moment of the entire campaign, watching a black man grovel before bigots.

I have no problem with gay marriages, but I would like to know when everyone's religious beliefs dictated who is able to become married.
