I'll try and post a little review of all the games after the weekend as I spent a lot of the day watching every game thanks to my two "T" friends, Tecate and Tivo.

Amazingly on opening day I ended up 5-2 and +1.4 units.

I bet .5 units on each game and I have a feeling if I end up keeping a record it will get confusing because my units fluctuate with my bankroll.

I'm going to set a $ amount for bets, not that I'm really concerned about keeping track for others, but just for the sake of the thread and not to confuse others.

Saturday:
5-2 (+1.4 units and +$98)

Games were more entertaining than I thought and the one real snoozer (Indios/Tecos) landed where I wanted (Tecos and Under) which helps for entertainment value.

Sunday I have:

Puebla/Monterey OV 2.5/-120 .5 units
(previously shown)

and added:

necaxas +.5/-135 1 unit
santos +237 1 unit

My increase from 1/2 units to 1 unit is more a reflection of my overall bankroll than confidence in my Mexican futbol handicapping ability, so caveat emptor.

Sunday: 1-2 (-1.85 units, -$119.50)

YTD: 6-4 (-0.45 units, $21.50)

Neither Necaxa or Santos was close to winning, both sides looked like crap.

First I had heard of that. Would think they would be looking more domestic with expansion, but not the worst idea.

On a side note, Sven-Goran Erikkson was at a Mexican game both Saturday and Sunday. Since my Spanish is very limited, I couldn't tell what they were saying when they showed him on the TV. Anyone know what his interest is in the league?

Some game notes from this past weekend, hope this helps someone out:

Cruz Azul 2 -Chivas 2

Cruz Azul missed penalty in 3rd minute.
Chivas backup keeper looks sharp.
Chivas gets no call on offsides for opening goal.
Game really opened up after Chivas took the lead. May have been completely different if Azul makes penalty early.

San Luis 2 Morelia 2

San Luis dominated early play but still trailed.
Sloppy defending by Morelia results in equalizer.
Morelia's uniforms look very cheap.
San Luis totally dominated play but were lucky to score a late goal and draw. Morelia's defense was completely out of sorts on both goals, something to file away for later.

tecos 1 at Indios 0

Rainy day in Ciudad Juarez
Tecos backline looks solid.
Tecos with only goal less than thirty seconds after halftime.
Tecos playing very cautious but much the better side.
Tecos defense is stonewalling the newcomers.
Effort there for Indios but talent a little short.

Tigres 0 pachuca 0

Tough, physical game.
Pachuca seems to have slight edge but not enough to pull ahead.
Pachuca netminder nearly makes fatal mistake wandering from goal but is saved by the crossbar.
Huge, huge save in injury time as Tigres had point-blank header to win.

Atlante 2 toluca 1

Offsides nullifies lid-lifter for home side.
More of a laid-back baseball crowd in Cancun.
Sloppy defense leads to Toluca goal off set piece.
Atlante pressuring to equalize.
Questionable penalty awarded to Atlnate and they drill it home.
Toluca playing not to lose getting bombarded with pressure.
Toluca's manager gets the boot, probably still steaming from PK call.
Atlante better side offensively.

Atlas 5 jaguares 0

Route is on in 17 minutes as Atlas is ripping through the Jags defense.
Uneventful match after initial scoring barrage.
Total domination by Atlas, Jaguares did not come to play today.
Lopsided score might result in value playing against the result.

Pumas 2 necaxa 0

Necaxa very leaky on defense but Pumas yet to take advantage.
Game opens up when Pumas scores.
Pumas totally outclassed a lifeless Necaxa side today. Again be cautious as they can't possibly be this bad in the future.

America 3 santos 2

Did not watch this, forgot to tape it.

Puebla 2 monterrey 2

Puebla opens with sloppy goal as ball kicked around box.
Monterrey with slick goal to tie things up.
Pretty open game with lots of back and forth action and good scoring chances.
Yellow cards being handed out like Halloween candy.
Monterrey's sloppy defense leads to another Puebla goal.
Point blank free kick just outside box ties it up.
Lots of fireworks in this one.

No problem, I was jotting notes as I watched the games and figured I'd post them as much for myself as others.:103631605

Interestingly, every single game was on in the Mexican League last week. At least where I live. With the aid of the DVR, I watched all but one (only because I messed up and forget to tape it). The commentary is in Spanish, but I do think seeing all the teams may help.
