So how does that work? You give Maui Jim your script and they Make the prescription lens and put it in the frames?

Pearl Vision ( big rip off Eye glass store ) sends them the prescription and Maui Jim fills it, yes

I bought my first pair of eyeglasses 2 years ago at age 40. I probably needed glasses around age 36, but kept putting it off. Anyway, I was told I needed bi-focals because I can't read up close or some shit so I get the ones with no line and all. The frames I got were Bvlgari which were $400. The sales dude tells me ok if you want a thinner glass it's another $250. No glare? That's $200. Anyway final bill for my first pair of glasses $1,200. I didn't have insurance at the time. Good times. I still wear them, but the lens is scratched and I need new pair.

since they cost you $1200, you should try to get the scratches buffed out. They do that at some places

Yeah they tried to get me for the " No Glare " crap too ... when I was looking at a regular pair of glasses
I'm just near sighted and I get an exam every 2 years.. My eyes got better this year ... lol ( Not sure how, since all the fuking time I spend in front of a computer )

but yes, when you need both, distance & reading.. the cost for the Lens is more.

They buff scratches out? Just any place like pearl vision or something? That's good news because I've gotten to where I don't even want to wear them unless I am reading because of the scratches. I will go have them buffed today of its any eye place

Like em, but like everything else, they're either lost or broken within 5 years. I do like the No Glare lenses, and think they're worth it, but they too start wearing off about 3-5 years and become worthless, quick. The no glare stay way cleaner and easier to clean them also for me though...

I just called a local pearl vision and she said as far as she know it can't be done. Also mentioned that buffing the lens will destroy the prescription.

Not sure if they do it, but guess you can make some calls before heading out.

If the Lens are Plastic .... you can forget it... must be Glass
The good thing is, you don't have the No Glare... before heard the buffing would remove that. LOL

Never hear the Prescription part ... but like I said the No Glare would be finished... Try a 'Real" Eyeglass place... not a Chain

No, I do have the no glare. I called 3 places and no one does it. Oh well. I heard they make bi-focal contacts so gonna go look into that.

Hopefully, I'm eligible for LASIK. I know some far sighted people are not. Need to go check it out.

well how about just replacing the Lens ?? you already paid top dollar for the frames ... how much could be the lens ? $300-400 ?

I have 2 pairs. Great company. Ive had mine for 5+ years each. Broke an arm once. Scratched lenses before. Took them to Maui jim parts office and they pretty much gave me new glasses back for 0$. I didnt even have proof of purchase. Good quality glasses. Polarized lenses are worth the money.
