Mattress hunting , What a Pain in the @ss ... What's a Good Mattress ? and How much did it cost you ?

I would avoid a pillow top mattress, for the simple reason you can't flip it. A non-pillow top mattress can be rotated and flipped, greatly extending the life of the mattress!

I have bought more than one IKEA mattress. They are not very expensive and very comfortable.

we had a guest staying at our house last weekend and she commented how comfortable the bed was.

Buy from Billy Bobs in SA, not the fanciest of showrooms, but have all the higher end matresses cheap....owner will even strap them down on roof of vehicle. God bless him

Just curious if you found a good mattress? Wife and I went looking today. Only went to one store(Raymour and Flanigan) . Really liked a Tempur Pedic but am convinced it would be too "hot". Next best was a Stearns and Foster luxury pillowtop. After reading mattressunderground may have to check out smaller mattress manufacturers. Gardner mattress in Mass sounds like it could be a great option.

Choptalk had thread about this awhile back. Can't remember the name of the mattress but there was one that wasn't too expensive that was actually very comfortable, that a certain hotel chain carried. And I agree the beds at that certain hotel were pretty comfy cant remember though, wonder if Chop bought it?
