bought both my kids mattresses off amazon that came rolled up in a box. I have to say, I've been fairly impressed with both of them. Me and the wife are going to give one of those foam box mattresses a try when we get a new one but it will be one of the more expensive/ better ones then what I bought the kids. Was thinking of trying one called tuft and needle. My mom has one and she loves it. They sell them on amazon and the reviews are incredible. They are more of a firmer mattress though. $850 for a king

everyone is different for mattresses
for me, firm mattress + pillowtop is the best combo. last mattress was awesome, was a beautyrest. just bought a sterns and foster, which is a little firmer but also great so far. pricewise i think beautyrest is more affordable
soft where it doesn't feel like you're sleeping on a board, but firm enough where it won't give you unwanted back problems.
i think mattress soft/hard preference also matters what kind of sleeper you are. i sleep flat on my back

Have you ever tried a Memory Foam mattress?

I think they are awesome. Changed the way I sleep, for the very better.

Just go to Overstock.com and see what they have.

not a Memory Foam lover, I have tried the pillows and not a fan.

yeah I have firm with a pillow top now. it's a Sealy
Sleep mostly on my side

I'm going to check out Beautyrest and the Brooklyn bedding place.
But I think I'm leaning towards a store one because I feel we need to test them first.

Thanks for everyone's help

Choptalk had thread about this awhile back. Can't remember the name of the mattress but there was one that wasn't too expensive that was actually very comfortable, that a certain hotel chain carried. And I agree the beds at that certain hotel were pretty comfy cant remember though, wonder if Chop bought it?

Buy from Billy Bobs in SA, not the fanciest of showrooms, but have all the higher end matresses cheap....owner will even strap them down on roof of vehicle. God bless him

If you go to a mattress store PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE.
If you go to an Ashley or Raymour furniture store WAIT FOR A SALE.
If you know exactly what you want and its a Sealy GO TO SAMS CLUB OR BJs

A mattress is one of those things you shouldn't cheap out on (Haircut, Socks, Mattress, etc)

You literally will spend 1/3 of your life using it. Get a good one.

Good ideas...

Not trying to cheap out, and far from cheap in General ... just never spent $4-$6K on a mattress before.

If I had to guess my current mattress was bought 8 years ago, and I know it was under $2K

We invested in a foam mattress that goes up and down like a hospital bed. We both love it. It was expensive like $4k or so but we really like it and plan on keeping it as long as possible.

BAS - the memory foam pillows and mattresses are two different things - -- i hate the pillows and dont use them -
but I have a memory foam mattress that I bought off of Home Shopping Network like 7 years ago --
love it - -still going very strong - and very comfortable.

Yeah I guess they have better Memory foam mattresses
if they have one in the store, I'll check it out.

Thanks
