This isn't even true. It's 2018 and optimal game theory as it pertains to NFL decisions on 4th down is far more understood now than it was when Belichick went for it on 4th and 2 @ Indy.

Even if you get criticized, who cares?

If being criticized by dumb people is an impediment to you making the correct decision then you shouldn't be an NFL coach.

He's just a fish.

You know who knows when to go for it on 4th down and when not to? Doug Pederson. And he's got a ring. Scared money doesn't make money.

Agreed, what did that old school NFL idiot Mike Lombardi say about Pederson? “He might be less qualified to coach a team than anyone I’ve ever seen in my 30-plus years in the NFL." Pederson then goes on to win the SB with Foles. This is the same league that gainfully employed Matt Millen for a decade as a GM. There are some bad coaches/execs in this league.

Well, I certainly wish the Bears would have run on 3rd and 1. Maybe even be creative, maybe Trubisky on a bootleg or a quick toss to Cohen. My god, that third down pass play wouldn't have even been a first down if the pass was completed, that is how pathetic that play call was.

Wait, the Packers were out of time outs and he called a pass play?!

LOL

I'm sorry, but being an NFL coach can't really be that hard of a job. It appears they focus on all the wrong stuff.

So many Bears fans pissed off about everything said here, not only did matt Jagy pass, it was to a 5ft something Tariq Cohen., basically hail mary pass play, really dont know if has caught a pass in 2 years with many failed attempts, too short chicago coaches u idiots,This zig zag back should not be in on fourth down, u have an all pro 2 years with 1000yds averaging 5 yds a carry, he needs to be in there.

I started the thread because of the 4th and 1 call which was objectively terrible. Didn't see the 1st 3 quarters of the game and I do think when a coach blows something like that, people tend to lump every other subjective decision in the game with it. Like you said, it's easier to call plays after they happen.

But that was an awful decision vs Aaron Rodgers on the road after he drove for 2 TD's like it was nothing. It's not even a good decision vs an above average team, but in that spot it was terrible.

On the bright side, some of the luster has worn off the Bears because of that choke job and they're gonna kill Seattle next week.

Good job by Nagy. Line would’ve been 6 tonight if Bears beat GB rather than meltdown.

He went for it on 4th and 1 in the 1st Q too. Some coaches just mashing buttons.

Still not seeing the "offensive genius"

Bears D is legit though. Gruden will never live down letting Mack go

Good call Matt

Bears head coach Matt Nagy did something that certainly bucked convention when he opted to go for two after scoring to take a 9-0 lead. The successful conversion put the Bears up 11-0, and the football purists were left confused if not slightly impressed at Nagy’s guts for such a call.
