One of my buddies from home who follows soccer suggested that Canada was perhaps the worst side in the Gold Cup and that Costa Rica should have no problem with no European players in the lineup for Canada... Played this one fairly large, and I don't play a heck of a lot of soccer on my own... Thanks for the heads up... wouldn't have asked him about it if you didn't tip it off.
Sad but true. Canada is probably the worst team in this tournament, however, I watched the game last night and Canada did not deserve to lose this game. They played well enough for a draw and had a few good chances to score. Costa Rica's only goal came on a penalty for a "phantom" hand ball in the area. It was a very cheap penalty and Costa Rica was very lucky to get the win.
Didn't know that... there's a reason I don't cap soccer and probably shouldn't cap CFL, namely that I can't watch the vast majority of games, but at least with the CFL I can get radio (and a lot of help from you and other fellow cappers, an invaluable gracious act that can't be thanked enough). Regardless, luck must factor in at times, and in this case, I'll definitely take the winner.

Your thoughts on USA-Canada this afternoon? If Canada is really that bad, USA -1.75 at +101 probably isn't a horrible wager on America's home turf, particularly after the way the team surged at the end against Cuba. If Canada's playing with international's again, I don't know how the USA can't manage to win this one, and most likely by at least 2 scores.

Markie Mark-- You'd like to think that Mexico comes out on fire today against Guatamala after getting beaten by South Africa, right???? My Colombian buddy from home thinks Mexico's winning this game at least 4-0... told me something about the manager on thin ice, having no choice but to go all out for a very impressive victory in this one to keep his job. Is this the same guy who was on thin ice when they played the CONCACAF qualifer against the USA at Azteca? Mexicans -1.5 seems to be a great play, especially with the price dropping like a rock, but I'll await your response.
I agree with your Colombian buddy. Mexico should go out and hammer Guatamala today. Not only because Mexico needs the win but because Guatemala's defense is in shambles. Jamaica scored 4 goals against Guatamala and 2 of the goals came AFTER the Reggae Boyz were reduced to 10 men thru a red card to Claude. Mexico should win this by at least 3 goals.

Not too shabby of a start to the day. Couldn't parlay the Finnish action at +0.5 (and the juice was like -180 anyway at Pinnacle... ugh), so ended up betting separately 1.5 units on each +0.5 and 0.5 units on each on the moneyline. Just had a conversation a few minutes ago with my friend from Columbia who thinks they're solid for a whooping today. Also suggests that Jamaica will beat South Africa, as the South Africans used all of their steam in the Mexico game (which he watched, and claimed they got tired at the end of the game, conceding the Mexican goal late on), and that there will be at least 4 goals in the game... I'll make the small play on over 2.5 at +103 and Jamaica at +215... Keep in mind this guy doesn't bet, or know that I talk to him for betting purposes... lol... I'll make it a point to call him every day during this tourney for his thoughts.
