So Marc Gasol is the best defender in some of your books?

Memphis may be a very good defensive team altogether, but sorry there's just no way that Gasol in THE BEST defender in the entire NBA...

That isn't what DPOY is goalpost mover.

He was the most impactful defensive player in the NBA this season. You clearly are unaware of his significance on that end, most advanced metrics favor him. Keep in mind also that he played all year and at 35-36 mins a game, so his contribution would be maximized because of that. Either way I could careless, I think the Grizz suck and LAC is going to expose them.

As for all that stupid LeBron stuff in this thread, I don't even feel like commenting on that.
MAWGs gonna MAWG. Penuguins if you don't watch or like the sport why comment on it? Nobody comes to the RX to read someone commenting on a sport they don't watch. So can you stop posting in threads about this? I don't respect your opinion and I don't want to read it.

MAWG after game that has 220 points: They don't play D like they did in the 90s
MAWG after game with 170 points: Nobody can shoot anymore, they can't shoot like the 80s

MAWG = Middle Aged White Guy who can't stand black dudes getting paid.
Same shit every thread.

I have no problem with Marc Gasol winning this. He was the leading candidate IMO.

I also would have had no problem with Tim Duncan, Joakim Noah, or Lebron James winning it as they all had fantastic defensive years as well.

I do however, agree that Dwight should have won it last season and is clearly the most dominant defensive force in the NBA when healthy.

With all of the studs in the league it's just not even realistic that this guy is THE BEST...

except you haven't bothered to actually write why you think someone is better than gasol
all you've stated is your theory that lebron can't win other awards because he won the mvp

Because THAT is the reason.

No way the NBA is going to let him walk away with both the MVP and DPOY...No way... They want to spread the wealth.

And some of the names Justin mentioned above are much better defenders than that big goof Gasol, as well as Dwight Howard who is far better even unhealthy!

Haven't watched NBA in 5 years, think the D sucks and yet you have 2 posts in this an NBA thread?

Must be a real loser with too much time on your hands. Sorry for that bro

If I started posting this shit in NHL threads because I don't find hockey entertaining, I'd shoot myself.

Still waiting for Dwight to have that one complete season. He's good but despite these spurts of greatness we all see on ESPN highlights, where is the complete season? Where is the hype we all expect him to live up to? Where and when is Mr. Howard going to take over for good and dominate as he should? I hate guys like this because I feel as a fan we are all cheated and Howard cheats himself as to being the great player he can be. Makes me sick.

Didn't really click on this thread wanting to defend Dwight Howard but pretty sure in '09 he led a team with Hedo Turkoglu as the 2nd best player to the NBA finals (backcourt of Rafer Alston/Courtney Lee)

Next season led another average team to the conf finals. Not sure what is a complete season to you? If you are waiting for a Shaq in '00 well you will be waiting a long time, he isn't that type of player.

Good point. However, Dwight should be much further along by now. He's just one of those players that's injury prone, attitude, "all about me", and just seems to hold back somewhat. Great players don't hold back. Howard showed just enough in the past to show his "potential" and teams like the Lakers bought into it. Hook, Line, and Sinker. Having said that, I hope the best for Dwight and finally show what he's all about basketball wise and not about off the court wise. He's a beast....at times.

Not many blocks, not many steal, not many rebounds.

He gets no fouls called on him because the refs want him in the game all the time. That's how of a joke the NBA is.
Probably get more beneficial ref treatment than Jordan if that's even possible.

He went two weeks without a foul called on him

Hache has called Gasol a goof and that has been his only comment on Gasol's defense. Everytime I watched him play, he anchored the defense and was pretty damn good. And in my opinion, Tony Allen is a better perimeter defender than Lebron.

And last year, Tyson Chandler was great on defense. Not really sure where Hache is coming from besides his obvious bias towards Dwight Howard.

Of course other players are good candidates, but to say Gasol winning is laughable, just shows that you aren't seeing things clearly
