Pitcher's pumping their fist isn't comparable to a man walking down the first base line, and pointing to his teammates. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

If a batter pumped his fist and jogged down the line, then no one would have an issue with it.

It's distasteful, but it's becoming more and more common. They just seem to have a tougher time leaving that batters box.

Was nice to see the announcers jump all over Manny though.....lol... "You've got 3 hits all post season, no run production, come on. Gimme a break"

Yeah sosa's another one. How could I forget. That trot HAS to be the fu#king most annoying pieces of shit to watch. But hilarious to see when he 'misgauges' and it doesn't leave the ballpark.

Then he just puts on that dumbshit look on his face, that seems to come naturally.

" NO cork. Batting practice bat. Honest"

Imagine you betting against the Cubs, and see that idiot trot like that after hitting a HR. Mulitply that by I don't know how many times, and you get how the pitcher in the ballpark serving it up feels.

knockout...been there. sosa is hated by more than he is loved in chicago. it seems the national opinion on him is far more favorable.

bonds is hated universally. ramirez is cut from the same cloth.

where the hell are the guys who just play the game? george brett, johnny bench, paul molitor...where have you gone?

I think that's just popular opinion... I mean, how else might a pitcher show up a batter? Spike the ball?

A pitcher can pump his fist and show emotion because he has little to fear unless he's striking out the opposing pitcher and has to face him...

Either way, I agree that their is no place for that.

Grady totally mismanaged Game #1 and Kim... Taking him out was one of the worst moves I've ever seen - and why? To protect Kim's confidence? He effectively took Kim out of the playoffs.

I still don't get the uproar, you are sorry if you play baseball and that pisses you off so much. The guy hasn't done a thing all series and he was basically saying "I ain't letting you down, Manny gets it done in the big game". Barry might go and point at the other dugout, that would cross the line. Maybe most players wouldn't have done it, but so what????

Manny was low class.

But he still has more class in his jock than the two Oakland fans that were heckling Jackson and trying to start sh*t with the Boston players while Damon lay bound to a stretcher in center.

Oh....and while it was not my initial intention to respond to the post above mine, the record will show that those two fans were white - ivory pure white trash.

I was at the game and not far away from that shit and I know that those 2 idiots are not real a's fans cuz its the first time i have seen them at any of the games....second of all 95% were giving Damon a standing ovation for letting us know that he will be fine.....now that shit by manny combined with the a's losing in game 5 last 4 years and every real a's fan would get pissed.....manny is a classless piece of shit and if you want to bring in the race card into play......a white person would never show of an other team like he did...let's see him doing that agains the rocket....he'll get hit in his ****in brainless head....anyways either team that won that series after these 5 games was gonna get swept by the Yanks...it just took too much out of them.

"a white person would never show of an other team like he did"

Guess you don't remember the 1992 ALCS when Dennis Eckersley puched out Ed Sprague to end an 8th inning rally then pointed into the bluejays dugout yelling expletives.

Assholes come in all colours.

When the A's won game 2 Tejada acted like they won the World Series pumping his fist and acting like a jerk. You have to realize Manny has failed for 4 staight games and already stuck out twice looking real bad. He usually shows no emotion, but the combination of the importance of the HR, and the attitude in the Sox dugout, it took over his emotions. He was celebrating with his team and never pointed or mocked the other team. Like people already mentioned, Bonds does it every time he hits one. At least Manny does it in a meaningful game. Get off Manny's back.

I am still trying to figure out what was so classless about it. Home run trots are normal, looking at your own dugout ain't exactly threatening. I mean what was worse that or Hack Man during the playoffs with one flap down glaring into the Cardinals dugout after his jacks??? In any case, just stick around until next month and watch the Warriors where you will see worse offenses about 10 times a game, hell Mutombo is more offensive and all he does is block shots out of bounds and the other team still gets the ball! I just don't get baseball fans, they act like their game has to be played a certain way and that way is slowly passing most of America by. Whether Manny has class or not he delivered, they pay him a crap load of money to deliver and he did it. I don't get why anyone should care what he did after he did it.

I'm a huge Red Sox fan, but I don't think Kim is the answer any more than I think Williamson is. But Grady brought Kim in to close that game.

Yes, he put two guys on but he got the big K when he needed it... As a manager you have to stand behind your players.

We all saw the Game #1 result and Boston needs all the arms they can muster moving forward in the playoffs. So yes, I think it was a bad move for the team.

MANNY IS A FIRST CLASS GUY ALL THE WAY!! Anybody that thought that what Manny did had anything to do with being classless are clueless. Might have been a classless move if he would have went out there and smacked Zito around a little before going into his home run trot......but even that would have even been warrented.

ZITO-- Tip for ya son.......THE NEXT TIME YOU STRIKE OUT MANNY......WIPE THAT **ITTY FREAKIN GRIN OFF YOUR FACE!!!!! Sorry, you hard to learn your lesson the hard way. Better luck next season!

What grin? WTF? I didn't see a grin, and if there was a grin, I'm sure Zito had his head down to avoid showing it to many, cuz I never saw Zito with a grin yesterday.

In fact I just saw another replay after Manny swung and miss at the fastball outside in his 2nd plate appearance and Zito just puts his head down and walks away. He's emotionless if anything.

And you're right, normally Manny just seems like a happy go luck guy. I still remember in game 4 on Sunday where he questions a strike called against him by the ump, turns around and both him and the ump end up laughing.. Manny probably cracked some joke or whatever, that's just the type of guy he is, least tha'ts how he's portrayed.

BUT, that still doesn't mean the shit he pulled yesterday was CALLED FOR, or EXCUSABLE.

Smacked Zito around? Would love to hear how Manny would have to go as far as SMACKING the opposing pitcher on the mound, for it to be considered CLASSLESS, but Zito supposedly grinning is all it takes for Barry to be a shithead.
