I was intrigued by Scientology in the 70's myself. It didn't take long to
figure out that it would take a shit load of dough to practice this "religion".
Then, as now, I have better uses for my money than giving it to a higher
power. I do enjoy Hubbard's science fiction writing though.

Are you kidding me? Well, I guess I'm prejudiced because I read everything he ever wrote, except the Church of Satan crap that Scientology don't know nothin about... heh heh heh. Muahahahahah. I was in it late '60's early 70's. I even trained there for a year or two before I got the f*ck out. Bunch of hustlers get promoted as they learn the ropes and how to dupe people with professional style in an authoritative way... fukk your buddy, whatever. The new LRH... a guy named David Miscavige (sp?) is a total psycho hose beast nutcase I hear. He and Tom Cruise are best buddies. Cruise would be their #2 actually.

PS... Hubbard also wrote Mr. Roberts. Now that was decent, but hardly any reason to get all religious over.

Like the old joke (can't remember the comedian that told it) about the
preacher accused of stealing the church donations. When confronted
about the shortfall he explained "Every week I took the money and threw
it in the air, I figured God would take what he wanted and I could keep
the rest".

Kind of like what happens to your money when you get involved. Over there, you throw it in the air and it really doesn't come back down, ever again. Ooooops. And I'm talking $100's of thousands per head. Literally. Meanwhile the starving staff members get paid $8 per week in a good week. Well that was the 70's anyway. It's probably like $20 per week by now... or maybe it's not. I could care less.

Kind of bums me out to hear about Chris Peterson though. He's a pretty damn good coach. What a waste!

If I ever play Boise in the future, I'll just block it out whether true or not (sounds true though)
Chris Peterson isn't even on the field anyway

I don't think Chris Peterson is really a Scientologist.

I googled it and came up with this page. It seems to explain that it was a rumor started by someone that heard about a Scientologist who's name is Chris Peterson.

I sure hope that's all there is to it. There's some more about him being denied a shot at the Notre Dame job because the Catholics would have a hard time hiring Peterson if he really was a Scientologist. He is said to have been asked about it and he denied it was true. Anyway, all of this seems to be heresay. Just a nasty rumor based on BS. (I hope)

Three fast things:

1. I'm fascinated by the turn this thread took. What an amazing change from the original intention AND it's somehow remained pretty darned civil. That's both amazing and weird.

2. L. Ron Hubbard didn't write "Mr. Roberts." That novel/play was written by a guy named Thomas Heggen.

3. "Mr. Roberts" is one of the best plays I've ever seen in my life. If you've never seen it, it's worth making note of. It's touching and memorable.

I don't know all the details of Scientology, don't care to know either.

But I respect the hard work and self reliance message it espouses.

As for the FG, there's a school of thought that says the respectful thing to do to your opponent is to give them a chance to stop you in that spot. Even if you're running up the score, a BCS bid will bring a lot of money to your school, and to you by extension. He needs everything he can get to improve his chances.

I had a play on Utah St, I had the wrong side.

What a little **** this scientology following fuck is. Up 24 in the 4th quarter and he goes for it on 4th down instead of kicking an easy FG?
What a little bitch, I hope BSU gets left out of the bCS game and has to settle for another visit to some bullshit bowl game instead while being undefeated.
For the Chris 'sake, stop bitching about go for 4th down when they up big in the end of the game. We heard enough in this forum. You must be in the wrong side of this betting. Me too, i had +22 also. In the way they (Coaches) explain, go for 4th down when they was leading big in the end of the game is a kind of respect between them that other team get a chance to stop the play. Make a TD is another story, but kick a FG is called running up the score. Are you new to this ?:ohno:

Take out a loan for next weeks game if NV is getting 11 points. Hell, they will win it out right!! I've been to almost all of NV's games this year and have watched Boise all year. You heard it here first...

if these cocksuckers are lucky enough to make a BCS game, I'd love to see them matched up against a team like Bama who would just demolish them along the lines and make them their prison bitches.

like Oklahoma did to Boise a couple of years ago?
like Bama did to Utah last year?

It was 4th and inches. Kicking a FG may have even insulted the team more. Just another sore loser.
