Lets look at this logically, a geezer reckons he's a professional gambler, meaning he makes money from gambling. He's now going to use some of his spare time to lecture some dope he's never seen or heard of before purely out of the kindness of his Heart. :missingte but even after being warned several times, this dope still wants to contact him.

They say there's one born every minute and it looks like their right. :drink:

gatotbait i have been in this business over 25 years and i have never met a guy who can claim he is a winning gambler.we had this guy at the irish social club he was a harvard graduate a really smart guy who got divirced and decided he was going to make a living gambling.this guy would read everything mix and match numbers and stats really did his homework.he had gambling down to a science within a year he was broke and driving a city taxi cab.

gatorbait i am guessing you didnt go to harvard so if this guy couldnt do it i dont think you can.

the only way to make money in this business is being the house i never had the balls to be a bookie but the guys that i knew who are are all driving nice cars and owning there own homes so something must be paying off.

Ok winbet i get your point but you went alittle to far on that last line. I wrote that before everyone was warning me and lets say i did contact him its not like im going to pay for advice or give him all my money for picks. Whats wrong with just listening to what people have to say, just cause he might say something doesnt mean im going to run off and do it.

That was very bad money management. The Professional Gamblers that make it big (my brother) don't make money management mistakes. With the right starting bankroll you can make an Easy SIX FIGURES the first year.

I never claimed that i was going to try this professionaly, i just wanted to know what everyone on the forum thinks about the subject. I have a decent job live in a decent house in a decent neighborhood, my girl goes to college full time and i have a daughter. I never said that i was going to take that risk, i dont have the bankroll anywayes. I visit this site every night and i would like to learn more about sports betting and this is a good site to ask questions and get responses.

If you get a line that is going for 125, for 105. don't you in turn become the bookie with the 10 cent edge? So if they can drive nice car's and live in paid off homes, why can't people who have this edge do the same? I know a few who so that ARE NOT BOOKIES. Just like any other PROFESSIONAL sport., not everyone can do it. IMO.

HEY NIT WIT THEY HAVE NICE HOMES AND CARS BECAUSE THEY USUALLY DONT BET.THEY GET THERE THRILLS JUST LIKE YOU DO BECAUSE THEY ARE ROOTING LIKE HELL AGAINST YOU.IN A SENSE THEY ARE BETTING THE GAMES BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING YOUR ACTION AND WATCHING AND HOPING YOU LOSE.

THE ONLY GUYS WHO MAKE SIX FIGURES A YEAR ARE THE GUYS WHO BET REALLY BIG ONCE A YEAR MAYBE THE SUPERBOWL.IF YOU BET EVERYDAY FORGET ABOUT BEING AHEAD IN THE LONG RUN IT WONT HAPPEN IT HASNT HAPPENED.

THEY SAY IF YOU CAN HIT EVEN 52% OF ALL YOUR BETS YOU SHOULD MOVE TO LAS VEGAS AND LAST TIME I CHECKED THERE WASNT TO MANY PEOPLE ON THAT PLANE TO VEGAS.

BOYS I JUST WON 5 BETS IN A ROW AT WWW.BETPHOENIX.COM NOW I GUESS I AM A PROFESSIONAL GAMBLER HUH FELLAS THEN WHY DONT I FEEL LIKE ONE.

Being one that has made the majority of their income from gambling the past 14+ years, allow me to shed some reality on this subject.

1. First and formost, there are many that make their living from gambling, but a very high percentage of these individuals could be making much more money if they pursued other careers, myself included. The trait that most all of these people have though, is a passion for what they are doing and love their job of gambling(Iceman and myself would fit this bill).

2. Many of those that gamble for a living will have looooong droughts of no income(nature of the business), so never out grow your bankroll if you pursue this line of work.

3. If you do choose to become a professional gambler, balance your life with other activities........take time for non-gaming vacations(even if they are only one-day excursions), family and friends.

4. Never get to big for your own britches.........this is so important. Stay within your means, both in your lifestyle and your gambling limits.

5. Pay taxes on your winnings. Keep an accurate diary of all your gambling ventures and be organized.

In closing, I don't recommend this to anyone...........because not only does it take superiour know how, but even after one can make a living at it, they would be better off with their lives with other pursuits. This is not to say that many have taken the right path though, as they love with they are doing and are content in their lives.

Professional gamblers are a rare bird, in more ways than one.

They are a rare bird indeed, in that most are Liars, they lie to themselves and others.

I know of 3 professional handicappers, and they do it by being best friends with the sportsbooks managers, and getting best lines, and giving KICKBACKS 2 the managers to get the best lines.

good luck
