DQ's happen all the time in horse racing. The 7 clearly drifted several lanes over, impeding other horses.

DQ's never once happened for the winner of the biggest race in the country, there's a reason for that

The horse that complained wasn't fouled, he stole it

True he forced their hand but there should have been an inquiry anyway.

This really ended up with a horrible result. I have seen plenty of inquiries over the years but I still think in the biggest race of the year this was bogus and the winner is illegitimate.

Tirico said it best. “This is sports in 2019” the race was over for 15 minutes and we still didn’t know the winner. It adds suspense but really takes the joy and and excitement of sports. I can’t argue the call was wrong but I can pretty clearly argue the best horse didn’t win.

So, what do you think the outcome would be had Maximum Security not drifted (1st, 2nd, 3rd)?

Nobody knows for sure where Maximum Security finishes, with the highest probability being first. But we know beyond a shadow of a doubt Country Barn is NOT the winner, probably finishes out of the money

I agree with you, I'm just curious as to what the outcome would have been for kicks and giggles (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). I'm having a hard time figuring out all the horses that were impacted by this and wondered if I might have been a winner since I had a myriad of horses on a trifecta. I realize nothing is going to change, but thought it might be fun to speculate (the top 3 finishers regardless of where you want to put Maximum Security...is Country House there?). I'm also curious how the Preakness will play out, but then again, usually it's only half the field of the Kentucky Derby.

Country "Barn" shouldn't even run in the Preakness, it's value can never be higher. Being non-competitive in that race won't help it's reputation and will only draw more criticism of the Derby

Something along the lines of a superfecta of Max Security, War of Wills, Tacitus, even Country House is in the Top 5 (CH ran a good race despite his odds)

My feeling is that Max Security does not win without the foul; his action caused a ripple affect behind him.

Had never thought about the wall of noise that suddenly hits the horses from the grandstand as they begin coming down the stretch. That would definitely spook some horses, in this case MS.

The right call was made, the wrong parties may have benefited. But I don’t see how you can do it any other way besides placing them in the order they cross the finish line.

War of Wills was the most affected.

He would have still Won the race
it's not like he won by a nose or neck, he won by almost 2 lengths

What about momentum of a couple of other horses that were actually impeded? Although I tend to agree with you, I think one of them may of had a great stretch (and they all beat Country Barn)

BFL, same for me with the tickets, my tribox and exacta box was

Maximum Security
War of Will
Code of Honor
Tacitus
Game Winner

I didn't have Country Barn or Improbable. Think I had a good chance at winning a $ 10 exacta, an outside chance at a $ 3 trifecta

I hope a lot of other folks feel this way on Preakness Day. It will help his price.

Lost in the controversy is the fact that Country House ran a nice race and had great position in the stretch. I wouldn’t necessarily call him a deserving winner but a Top 3 finish was in the cards.

Wish I could have back just the money I’ve lost in inquiries/objections over the years lol

Well, I won't being paying any attention what-so-ever to the actual race so I won't be helping you with that there "price" thing :)

Chase away too many casual fans, and the Railbirds just gonna have to beat each other

You definitely make a good point. My one time a year horse betting buddy who had War of Wills wasn’t too happy. I don’t expect he will want to do any horse betting for awhile at least, no matter how much you try to explain its part of the game.

Expect the unexpected, in sports and horses.

not disagreeing that Country House didn't run a very good race, and there's No guarantees in Life , especially Gambling
But if they meet again in the Preakness, it's of my opinion that CH will NOT beat Maximum Security

In the moments immediately following the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, trainer Bill Mott said his thoughts were of how well his colts Country House and Tacitus had run, and he figured they’d both be bound for the Belmont Stakes next.

I’d be up for a friendly head to head wager if interested lol. Either the Preakness or Belmont or wherever they might face each other again.

It just seems to me that Max was starting to get swallowed up by the field at the top of the stretch and the foul enabled him to squirt away from
the field again.

War of Will was in a perfect spot to overtake

Maximum Security would have the edge in the Preakness and Country House the edge in the Belmont, but I would do a Friendly wager on either/both
