There would have been a steward’s inquiry if there hadn’t been an objection first. Does it really matter?

What's the correct decision? That's the problem. There's a clear foul and the 20 didn't deserve it. A no win situation. Shame is it would have been a hell of a finish if saez just stays in his lane

Well in the 145 year history of the derby, no horse was ever disqualified......are you saying we never have bumping, horses cutting others off, etc....in past derbies? Happens every year. .....for whatever reason, which isn't obvious to any of us, they chose to break the 145 year mold & disqualify a winning horse.

Michael if you can show me during the race where Maximum Security impeded Country House or where Country House was affected with any other horse impeding him or touching him on the turn, I'd be glad to see it. I am not a once a year watcher or bettor on the ponies.

It doesn’t matter WHO was impeded. What’s so hard to understand?

My whole issue is that the steward allowed an objection from a rider that wasn't impeded in any fashion. This race was stolen, plain and simple.

True... I heard it definitely was not objection from #1 but missed who they said did object?? Anyone else hear?

You could make this argument with any disqualification where the horse(es) cut off don't finish right behind the offending horse/jockey.

The actions of the decision makers speaks volumes;

---------------

about 2 1/2 hours after the race, the three people who made that decision didn’t even bother to defend it. Instead, they chose the gutless route by reading a prepared statement in the media center at Churchill Downs and refusing to answer questions about the biggest overturned result in the history of the sport.

---------------------

Gutless, no other way to describe it

Listen, I'm a horse racing novice, I pick horses by names mixed in with a sprinkle of odds and bet on the Triple Crown races just to have fun. A lot of casual fans are going to think that decision was pretty fucked up

I'm not going to miss the sport
